No Serie A team has ever scored as many goals as Atalanta have in their first 9 games since the start of the 3 point era (28 goals)
Also, the only teams in Europe to score more than them after 9 games have been Manchester City & Ajax (1 more)

At the same time they're getting embarassed in CL. Serie A :tuttosport:

CL is a completely different animal. Plus for them making it to the CL was like their biggest achievement ever. Everything that follows is bonus, it's like a really small country makes it to the World Cup, they go there with a vacation mindset.
It's mind boggling how so many people don't get this. Almost every team that makes it to the CL for the first time (or after qualifying after a long hiatus) performs very badly. The change in tempo, tactics and even the way the referees control the game makes a huge difference. Besides, many teams are overwhelmed by the occasion.

I beg to differ. Though not the World Cup, Iceland at EURO 2016 reached the quarter finals after sending England home.

CL is undoubtedly a bigger stage, but not that big that you lose all your games scoring 2 and conceding 11.

I think experience seems to be a big factor in the CL. Some of these small Eastern European sides manage to do decent in the CL because they play in it every season. But a side like Atalanta experiencing its first season in the CL? With players who've never been there are going to struggle.

And we only have 16 goals in 9 matches, with the most beautiful attacking footie coach in football and Ronaldo.

I appreciate the respect given to Juve by Gasp; and he is absolutely right of course in that the Scudetto is ours to lose.

That’s the one major exception. Juventus, Liverpool, Dortmund, Tottenham, all went out in the group stage a season or two before they reached the final because they were inexperienced playing in the CL.

The point is none of them were this bad. Atalanta didn't just lose. They were humiliated.
