I can see Sanchez maybe, but would they really bother with Rossi or Mata? Good as they are Guardiola would not deviate from what has served him so well, a small core of quality players. I just can't see a situation where Barca will take what to Barca is a squad player when there's no need. Sanchez would in all reality be a luxury buy but IMO he's sufficiently better than the other two aforementioned players to make them seem pointless consolation under the circumstances.
I don't know why would Barca be after a super expensive player anyway.
I know that it's good to make some changes in a winning team so the old XI won't lose the motivation, but Barca already had a bad experience when they did it with Ibra. They might be doing that strictly for marketing purposes, because they are a young team that beats everyone and they don't really need changes.
Even if they do want to make some changes, why splash huge amount of money?
And even if buying Aguero or Sanchez makes some sense since they are superior to Pedro, or they could be used as a replacement for Villa who could be sold, as suggested above, I don't see the logic in splashing +30m euro for Fabregas when they have Iniesta and Xavi.

and Barca have Thiago Alcantara in their ranks, we well ... going for a 40 mil player like Fabregas, when they also have almost half a billion debt, is just crazy.

if barca knew what was good for them, they would stick with this 'youth' policy that they are trying to lead us to believe is the basis of their success and worry about clearing their own debts, rather than adding to them for unecessary purchases. If they really needed to buy someone then perhaps a defender or 2.

However, I wonder if it is as necessary for a team like Barca who have a lot of youth team products.

I'm not sure if Barca is buying expensive players just so other teams won't have them or they're waaaaaaaay to careful and would rather splash millions, just so they won't take any risk whatsoever with injuries.
Fabregas would be a great player to have if one of your 2 instrumental players (Xavi and Iniesta) get injured, but it's really pushing it to have one of them on the bench.
Not that I'd mind if Barca sign Fabregas. I'd rather have him on Barca's bench then in Milan's midfield, but football will become way too boring if Barca and Real have better bench than the starting XI of United, Milan, Juve, Inter, Bayern, Chelsea etc.

I don't know much about disgusting, but certainly failing. Just look at how many expensive failures they had in the past 2-3 seasons. First of all, most of the time they didn't actually need those expensive signings, another thing is, imagine if they didn't have such a good academy, they'd be worse off than Valencia with their terrible dealings in the transfer market.
That being said, Imo Aguero would be perfect for them. Villa already plays on the left hand side of the front three most of the time, Messi can revert back to the right where he played most of his career, and Aguero would fit in the center. Aguero already has an amazing understanding with Messi, the two play very well together in the Argentine NT, its obvious that they enjoy playing together. So i think, this expensive signing might not be as bad as their previous ones.
