It's often a fixation these guys have of playing for a certain club in their careers. And they want to see that dream through. In this case, Real. cR, Kaka, Zizou to a lesser extent. No point investing big money on a player and treat him like DPs heir, espesh one who will not be here for the next decade. Also, what he's doing to the fans of Athletico is utterly disrespectful. Like I said before I'd hate to see a player like that inherit Del Piero's legendary 10.


Ps: Just to point out, there's no prejudice here, but I'd hate to see us spend 45m on a player who by the looks of it would not be a long term investment. The fact that he wants to go to Real now, might change momentarily, if he goes elsewhere. But eventually, he'll want to play there.

Assuming, he's coming in as the star this team is going to ride on, on and off the field, I think it would be wasted investment, not just from an economic point of view, but for the fans, who'd give him that pedestal of a favourite, loved player. I'd much rather somebody a little more loyal get that position.
