Juve’s call from Moscow

CSKA Moscow boss Valery Gazzaev has encouraged Juventus to sign Serbian defensive ace Branislav Ivanovic.

The 23-year-old stopper plays for CSKA’s city rivals Lokomotiv Moscow and won plaudits at the recent Under-21 Championships in Holland where he was listed in UEFA’s Team of the tournament.

Ivanovic has been linked with a move to one of Europe’s giants and was reportedly a target for several Italian sides during the summer. Now, Gazzaev believes they should act on their interest.

“Juventus should sign him beacuse in my opinion he is ready for Italian football,” the 53-year-old Coach told Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Old Lady looked short of defensive options having been unlocked twice by Cagliari and may well search for new faces when the transfer window reopens in January.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that Juve are lining up an approach for Red Star midfielder Segundo Castillo. (we are back for him,i saw this news on few sites)
The Ecuador international surprisingly announced that the Cadetti champions were interested in him earlier in the summer and sources now suggest that Claudio Ranieri has sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old.

CSKA Boss Recommends Ivanovic To Juve

Juventus have received a tip from CSKA Moscow boss Valery Gazzaev: sign Lokomotiv defender Branislav Ivanovic.

CSKA Moscow boss Valery Gazzaev has recommended that Italian giants Juventus power ahead with a plan to sign Lokomotiv Moscow defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The army side's manager said to the Correire dello Sport, "Juventus should sign him because, in my opinion he is ready for Italian football."

Ivanovic has been capped three times for Serbia, the 23 year old having arrived in Moscow in time for the 2006 season, Russian football being played over the summer.

He's played over 50 times for the Railway club, having previously served OFK Belgrade and Sremska Mitrovika.

Juventus do not lack defenders in terms of numbers, but some, such as Jean-Alain Boumsong, are considered surplus to requirements for first team affairs, meaning that the club could yet look to improve their back line.

What's more, Ivanovic is considered a versatile player whocould take part right across the back line.

At the 2006 UEFA U-21 Championships in Portugal, he helped Serbia to the semi finals, which they lost on penalties to eventual runners-up Ukraine.

The Serbs conceded three goals in four games, Ivanovic himself being named one of the top 11 players of the tournament.

I really wasn't impressed with Castillo when i saw him play in the champions league qualifiers. He is like a poor mans Emerson, he would add nothing going forward and just sits right infront of the defence, without really doing very much. Plus he kept hitting terrible shots from miles out.

Although i am only judging him on 2 games, he doesnt look any better than our current midfielders, Zanetti or Nocerino can play his role more effectively.

Thats what i'm saying, he just looked average and when we already have a lot of central mids who can do that job just as well(if not better) then we should use our cash elsewhere.

So CSKA's boss are telling us to buy a Lokomotiv player? haha that's just laughable.

That's like Mancini saying, "hey Real! buy Criscito".

So that actually means the CSKA moscow boss is actually kinda "scared" of Ivanovic,I mean he wouldn't say that if he thought the guy was useless for Lokomotiv,he wants to weaken Lokomotiv..I haven't seen him play, but from all the hype even saying he could be better than Vidic does sound like this guy has a great potential..

In general, at the u-21 tournament I thought he was the best D out there. He didn't have a good game in the final but so did the team.

Castillo would be a waste of $$$, bring back Marchisio instead. He'll be better and would cost nothing.

-Ivanovic: How Can I Say No To Juve?

The Serbian defender tells Juventus he is ready to join them if his current club consents to the move.

Lokomotiv Moscow defender Branislav Ivanovic has hinted that it would be impossible to turn down a move to Juventus.

The highly-rated centre back, was one of the stars of the European Under-21 Championships in Holland during the summer and has been linked with the Bianconeri for several weeks now.

Last years Serie B champions have looked very shaky so far this season in defence and coach Claudio Ranieri is said to be desperate to bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window.

When told of Juventus’ interest in him, Ivanovic responded, “Juve are observing me? This makes me very proud. To know that a great, prestigious club want to sign me fills me with joy.”

Juventus scouts were reportedly present in Belgrade on Saturday evening to watch Ivanovic play for Serbia against Finland in a Euro 2008 qualifier.

The former OFK Beograd player will again be in action on Wednesday night as Serbia travel to Lisbon for a crucial match against Portugal.

Playing in that game will be two of Ivanovic’s possible future Juventus team-mates, Jorge Andrade and Tiago Mendes.

If management had Ivanovic in their plans, they wouldn't have waited 10 days after the mercato is closed to sign him for January, when he was needed b4. The media is looking for a story.

It will happen.

Juve prepare Ivanovic swoop

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Serbian defensive starlet Branislav Ivanovic is set for a January move to Juventus, according to Press reports.

The 23-year-old Lokomotiv Moscow ace came to the fore at the summer’s European Under-21 Championships in Holland where he earned a place in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.

Juve are likely to look to strengthen their back line in the winter transfer window as their new-look defence has been far from convincing so far.

Ivanovic is rated so highly largely due to his ability with the ball at his feet, which is remarkable for a centre-back.

Rumours suggest that the Old Lady have agreed a fee of just under £6m for the ex-OFK Beograd man and are preparing a five-year contract to keep him in Turin until 2012.

I'm not sure.

They may hve felt that they had bought enough new players in one go and so needed to allow those already signed time to settle before adding more new players.

That said, I'm not convinced we are really trying to sign him.
