I would rather have a good non-italian player than who is italian but sucks, and we all know that there is no good available italian defender at the market (please don't mention Canna or Barzagli). And one thing I really hate is double standards you guys have, take look at Barzagli who is by opinions of most of people here a real talent and next Canna but all of you forgets that he is 26yrs. old, but when it comes to Ivanovic he is too old to be a talent and he should be already proven :disagree:

From all what I've red Ivanovic really special (p.s. don't forget that Vidic also came from Russian leauge and before that he played only in Serbia and now is one of the best defenders)
Agree with you, except about Barzagli, he's great defender and he'll probably play at least next eight years.

His style is closer to Ciro from what I saw. Of course he'll never be like him.
Actually I think that his style is much closer to Fabio, his body movement, calmness, dominance. One thing that he doesn't have is that permanent, ironic smile on his face.

why do u say that?
Ciro was real class.

Ciro could play on the right(earlier in his career), he was a defender that could score often...but you surely saw him more than I did. Canna is small but a good header, great anticipation, leader...so if he's like that then good for us.

I heard Loko denied with an official statement on their site though. :faq1:

I didn't say I would take any Italian player over foreigners just for the sake of it. If Ivanovic is as good as he's made out to be (I can't judge, I haven't seen him), then he's welcome, even if he's not Italian. And I do agree that there is a shortage on Italian centre backs. Barzagli hasn't lived up the hype yet (tough I still believe in him); is Criscito the only big talent on the rise?

My remark on Italian players was a more general one. I'm all in favour of non-Italian signings who add talent, like Almiron; but I question the signings of guys like Grygera who don't add anything except some depth, which we could achieve through an average Italian player. But that's a bit off topic.

Dude,seriously..??The guy was free, plus he has played for the National for both World Cup and Euro, have played Champions League football, and not to mention that there were several clubs interested for his signing,he didnt sign a new contract with Ajax, because he wanted to go to a bigger club and what bigger club than Juve ayy, come on just to add depth,You may say his injured and all that but you'll see what i mean when he revives..

And as for Ivanovic,a great club needs to take chances especially with our current condition,we will have to take chances and risks are always there..If we were to risk on any player for that defense spot, then Ivanovic is my man..

I really dont understand why we never strengthened our defence when the window was open? Andrade ok, but why are our players dropping down like flys for? there is always a player injured nearly every fortnight.

I checked both the russian and english version of Loko's official site and there is nothing about this.
They either took it off or there never was such an announcement.

it's there

http://www.fclm.ru/news/

Yeah, well.. Still, Grygera hasn't convinced me with Ajax, I'll be happy if he surprises me, though, but that's not the topic.

Grygera was good signing but he gonna need to prove that, and I agree with U Geof that it seems that only Criscito is real Italian talent in defence and I disagree with U about Barzagli cuz he is 26 and he should be already proven and somehow he isn't.

And about Ivanovic, I think we should sign him even for a big amount of money, cuz we can't let happen another Milito case and our board should realise that for a big name signings we need to pay big money.

Ah, yes, i don't know how i didn't see it.
It says ,
" As for the announcements in Italian and Russian papers about the possible transfer of Lokomotiv's and Serbian national team defender Branislav Ivanovic to Juventus, FC Lokomotiv officially confirms that these info isn't corresponding with the reality.
Football club Lokomotiv didn't have in the past and doesn't have now any contacts with Juventuis about the transfer of Ivanovic. Our club has a long term contract with the player and in this moment we are not interested in selling him to another club "
