We're not gonna waste 10m, as Gio's sale in the worst case scenario could bring us around that. Of course we'll be offering him a renewal and he is on low salary btw, less than 2m iirc. In any case he'll be a valuable back up throughout the season.
Giovinco can be used in a 4-3-2-1 I think, which Allegri does like. Historically, I've seen him used a 4-3-2-1 and a 4-3-1-2. He also used a 4-3-3 in 2012-2013 with Stephen El Shaarawy, Niang and Pazzini I believe.
Giovinco could probably be suitable as the CAM in a 4-3-1-2 (he won't be marked by huge CBs), a left-sided withdrawn forward in a 4-3-2-1, or a winger in a 4-3-3.
I have a weird feeling Allegri will be more willing to use Pepe and Giovinco than Conte was.
If we are intending on using wide forwards/wingers regularly then we might as well keep him around as back up down the road
I mean, at this point who's going to be interested in him?
Serie A clubs who would offer us about 50 euros and first refusal on some 32 year old bench keeper, or some obscure club in a crappy league which Giovinco will flat out refuse.
