I'm more into a player's chance conversion rate than their goals total.

Giovinco has not scored anything like as many goals as he should have.

And when you also factor in that a number of his goals have been insignificant, things look even less impressive.

Efficiency is important, but some players are great at that yet just don't how to get on the end of/create many chances for themselves. Being able to do that is an important skill too.

Giovinco does that. He wastes a lot of chances but he also gets a lot as well. He's not efficient but seemingly effective.
