Meh as disappointed as I was with getting another manager who will likely struggle to mount any serious scudetto challenge I'm going to wait and give him a chance before judging.
He's had a whole career that can be judged. The best thing he's ever done is manage a Samp side to a CL spot in probably the weakest Serie A I've ever seen.

We tied Hamburg...I say he failed.
We lost 3-1 to a second rate NY side only a few months ago, we've been through much worse.

Do you think he won't be able to repeat that with a better team?

I think the appointment of Del Neri was a clear sign from our board that the objective this season is to get back into the CL, Del Neri should be able to do that.
If we are getting ride of him(Gio), I can't decide if I would sell him for cash or player trade(one we could really use).
Is loaning him still a possibility? The media keeps saying that we will sell half of him to Parma.

And what makes you think that? You make one season with Samp in a poor Serie A sound more than it really amounts to, i.e. more than just one season of success.

Del Neri had a better team with Roma and only lasted six months there. He was fired.

You've said this stuff before, which is fine, but when he fails don't decide to turn on him and say he wasn't up for the job. You giving him a chance means that you're with him, so stand by him.

I'm not defending him. You're saying that if I don't call him a failure before the season even starts then I have to support him the whole way through?

Thats crap, not being a hater doesn't make me his fan.

You claim we should give him a chance despite the fact he has a mediocre history in the game. That implies you are for his signing, as if you were against it, you wouldn't "give him time."

This same BS verbiage is rewarded to all personnel who get a chance with Juventus yet clearly don't deserve it. Blanc, Secco, Molinaro, Zaccherroni, Ranieri, the list goes on and on. "Give them time", the crowd chants. And the only reason why people spout this stuff is because they're hanging onto a false sense of hope, or else are scared that their opinions are wrong.

I'm sick of this crap. You're either for or against the signing, no middle ground. In football it's simply a matter of success or failure and that's the harsh reality of the game.

If we signed Clint Mathis from the Galaxy right now, a player who barely gets off the bench, would folks say "well, he's here now, so give him a chance"? How about an old Youri Djorkaeff? How about Osama Bin Laden?

I have been trying to be optimistic but was never for his signing, he is a mediocre coach and not at all what a club like Juve should be going for if they want to challenge Inter or make progress in Europe. He won't do better than 3rd of 4th place this season, happy?

But why say "give him time" when you don't believe he's the right man for the job? This is called selling yourself short.

People will say you're a "pessimist" along with other nonsense, but who cares? Supporting the club doesn't mean blindly agreeing with everything it does. It's silly.

I see your point, but it sucks to look ahead to the coming season expecting more mediocrity.

we are not exactly boasting super star line ups these days but under solid tactics, we may have a consistent season and make a run for thr top 4. Inter and roma are clearly a head of us, but i dont see Milan, Samp, fiorentina, Genoa, napoli all being great so i think we have a chance this season to do better, even with martinez and pepe on our wings.

If we don't qualify for the CL the entire squad, staff and front office should be shot. Well, except for Ale, Gigi, Claudio and Chiellini who can do no wrong.

I think if Milan are injury free they are better then us. We will see how their new coach manages but I don't think Pepe and MArtinez on our flanks competes with Ronaldinho and Pato(if pato is fit)
the Milan starting 11 is better then ours imo.
But Milan tend to flop and if Del Neri can get us playing solidly and like a team we should be able to do well this season I hope

Roma look interesting this season with Adriano, Totti and Vucinic upfront
