Lets point out a few things:
-Cassano is 5 years older than Giovinco.
-Cassano hates Juve, whilst Giovinco loves Juve. This has far too many implications to mention. (devotion in time, interaction with players, coaches, etc and motivation for the team's win)
-Cassano has great attitude issues, he wants/demands to be THE star of the team, where Giovinco seems to be willing to earn that status and respect his teammates! Cassano is not and will never be a professional player, thats why he will always fail in serious teams!
-Giovinco is an apt replacement to Diego and we need such a player more than we need someone who can do Amauri's, DP's and Iaquinta's job.
Both Giovinco and Cassano cant be the prolific CFs like Trezequet is (was).
But at least Giovinco is young (can still be converted) and versatile enough to serve as Diego's replacement.
If we give him away, we will have to buy a new player for that role and still have no prolific CF, like Treze (Amauri is NOT like that) Thus multiplying our needs without adding smth we dont already have (a goal scorer)
-ATM Giovinco is a young (rising star) sub, into a great team, whilst Cassano is the "mature" (established? lol) star, of an average team, where he can shine more.
For that reason, Cassano (who also comes from a great season) is overvalued and Giovinco is undervalued, we are most likely to pay a difference to swap Giovinco with Cassano.
Considering the above arguments, such a difference is not justified!
And if the 5 year younger Giovinco blooms, then we are the ones who should be asking for a difference!

Giovinco's confidence was destroyed in the second half of last season. He should've gotten his place after putting in a string of monster-performances (against Roma, in The coppa and another), if I remember correctly. Then Ranieri decided to give him a place in the stands. Haven't seen the gutsy Giovinco since. Not to forget the injury in pre-season. He used to play a high-risk game, which worked. Now he plays more low-risk and it doesn't work. He needs games and confidence.
I agree about the bully defender, hence i'd place him on the wing, put him one on one with a fullback which he can turn inside out and where can pick out a pass from there.
I still think it's a case of giving him a proper chance. It's just been two games.

Most of fans are overreacting after one or two unconvincing performances, again and again.. I hope Giovinco will prove them wrong like Del Piero, Camoranesi, Buffon and Trezeguet did before.
as for Cassano, he is a waste. Big fish in small pond. yes, he could be great but things didn't go well for him and only one to blame is Cassano's himself.

it is really funny how extreme the opinions about giovinco are ...
even more funny is, that every action of giovinco is overrated or underrated...
if he plays good he is the next messi and when he plays bad he is the next palladino ...
when i read about how great giovinco was against chelsea and how he owned everybody i did download the second half of the match to see the great things giovinco did ... after the second half finished i seriously asked "this was it ?" ...
honestly he did nothing i never have seen and he did certainly not own or destroy anybody on footballing terms ... if the chelsea full back acts like some chicken it has not really to do with giovincos class being able to avoid getting hit by crazy chickens running headless around.
i do not want to talk giovincos ability down, but the chelsea game was no revelation in football terms. could as well been palladino ripping a serie b defender apart.
i hope giovinco really does find a way to improve his game ... right now he is really easy stoppable by tactic fouls so he can not do anything dangerous when they just bully him in the midle line... he needs to get the ball much closer to the goal, so the opponent is more cautious in rewarding freekicks ... and until we have a team that is able to give giovinco a precise pass when he is closer to the goal than 30 meters you can simply cut it to play him as trequartista ...
i really was surprised by the goal that diego scored for us against roma (was it?), because he took the ball in midfield an ran towards goal not letting him riise bully him off the ball even when riise had a good position to the ball...
that is how it is supposed to be ... i do not know if it is even theoretically possible for giovinco to become such a good balance, considering his height and in front of all without losing his pace (while gaining muscles)

He's a great player and he has a future but probably not at this current Juve. I really don't see him playing behind the strikers he impressed me most on the wing and a 4 man midfield isn't the direction this club is headed.
I feel sorry for the guy. His growth as a player has been stifled considerably. He was an extremely talented youngster with tons of potential and he got caught up in a lot of the ramifications of poor management. I'd rather sell him to another club and see him do well then see him on the bench at Juve. I'll love the kid no matter where he goes.
In saying that. I would love him to prove all the doubters wrong and do a great job behind the strikers.

same here but i don't hate Cassano, i just think that the Cassano-juve thing won't work well. People say that Cassano have changed but how do they know ?!Cassano said he'll be totally commited to Roma before he moved there and i remember he turned down many offers from lot of top clubs just to play next to he's "then" idol Totti. And he screwed the whole thing and Roma who brought him back then for 28 mil euros sold him for just 5-6 mil euros !!
Next summer he'll be 28 and personaly even if we sold Giovinco next summer i'd rather see some young promising player coming to the club than spending 20+ mil euros on someone like Cassano....
