Sell him to Arsenal then, even though he showed he can play against the likes of Chelsea's Bosingwa, Ballack and Alex.
He played as a sub in the Chelsea match. He has proven that he is useful as a sub and he has never proven himself a valid starter and that he should get more playing time than now (A sub's playing time is depended on the situation). As a starter, the opponents study and mark you carefully. As a sub, enters in the 60-70 minutes of the game, is another thing.
People might say that's because he hasn't gotten many opportunities as a starter. But last season he had like only 1-2 good match as a starter (against teams like Bologna and Catania). I remember he played as badly as now in the match against Palermo as a starter and we lost 1-2 in Turin and people said the same things they are saying now, that it was because the whole team played badly, long balls and etc. In the match against Borisov, the two goals Iaquinta scored were assisted by him but if you've watched that match, he didn't play well at all. It was another similar situation. He didn't search to receive the ball as Diego and most of the time the ball reached him, our attack ended because he lost the ball constantly (the first goal Borisov scored was a counter-attack due to his direct loss of the ball). In the match against Lecce, other than a freekick, he played another bad match. Always the same thing, some glimplse of briliance, but never has the consistancy in a mtach and very few end products.
This pre-season, he also played badly in Peace Cup as a starter. In Italy U-21 he was always a starter but never showed that he has the level to start in Juve.
So even if he can create a few opportunities by a flash of brilliance and sometimes with luck this opportunity converts into goal, it doesn't mean he is a valid starter.
1. With him on the pitch, either he is lost for most of the match (can't receive the ball or get the pass from the teamates. And I thought it was because of long ball that the whole team was bad and etc, but watch how Diego plays, with the same teammates, the difference is huge to when Giovinco is on the pitch).
2. Or he is out-muscled and being tripped at a very far distance from the box, which is not very useful. Or he lost the ball and the opponents organized a dangerous counter-attack. Overall, you can't guarantee that the attack is fluid with such a player in the pitch, especially in the middle of the pitch.
3. He contributed very little to the defense and to the control of the game and his attacking products are not huge enough to compensate that. Overall, no shot ability of a striker (very bad shots, indeed), no control ability of a midfielder. Winger? A winger a la Messi scored many goals and doesn't lose the ball like he did.
So he can be valid sub but the problem is he complains and whines about playing time and said things like he didn't play because he is Italian (This is not goal.com shit.) It's unwise and annoying. A Juventus player and youth product he is, the fans overprotect him. IMO, he hasn't shown anything to deserve this. A few assists are not enough. Even Zalayeta scored important goals for Juve.
