He plays better in a 4-3-3 but still not good enough for complaining playing time in a team like Juve. The bad performance of the whole team blablabla is not an excuse.
The physics limitates him, but he is not very intelligent neither. He doesn't have brilliant idea about when to shot, when to pass and where to run and etc. He can be a valid sub in Juve if he talks less (learn from Iaquinta).

Sorry, but this may be the worst post I have ever read on this forum. It has, in fact, left me speechless.

In my mind I compare Gio with Iniesta. We gotta be patient with him like Barça was with Andrés... and we'll enjoy the fruits of it when he finally bursts.

I would use him again against Livorno....to see if he has the guts to clean face and perform!.

If he is not used now, once diego comes back he will be used never again.

i'd like to see him in three man midfield, i think it could work. had a really dissapointing game yesterday, just like our other midfielders. well he totally wasted one of his chances, the next one will be against Livorno, and if he performs like this, it could last quite a long time till he gets a starting spot again. i really hope for Seba's and Juventus future, that he will improve drastically.

Seba in a three man midfield? I don't think that will work either because he'll have to win more balls despite his size. If he can't play behind the strikers, there's no way he'll be able to play deeper in midfield. It's not like he's a Pirlo-type player either.

well he'll have to win balls wherever he plays and i think that all he needs is a less responsible role, as yesterday he showed us that in difficult games he can't cope with personal bodyguard always next to him. i think he can be rough enough (at least in the level of Tiago) if that's the thing that separates him from a starting shirt.

and no, i don't have enough time in my hands to play games like fm/pes/fifa if that's what you wanted to know.

Giovinco takes the blame

Wednesday 16 September, 2009

Ciro Ferrara and Sebastian Giovinco both admit “he’s no Diego” and has a long way to go before he can lead Juventus.

“Ferrara complimented me, but I am convinced I can give much more,” said the Atomic Ant after a 1-1 draw with Bordeaux.

He was given the starting spot in the Champions League clash because Diego and Alessandro Del Piero are both injured.

“In the first half we all played quite badly and at too slow a tempo, then we improved. It wasn’t easy for me against two giants like Diarra and Fernando in the middle of the park, but then everyone seems like a giant to me, so I’m used to it!”

The Coach also pointed out that £20m summer signing Diego is a step above the Italian Under-21 international.

Giovinco did well. He is not and never will be Diego, but that is obvious,” mused Ferrara.

“There is no such thing as a player identical to another and I don’t like talking about those who didn’t play, as it’s not fair.

“In the past six years this team has adopted the 4-4-2 system, but we changed to a diamond midfield and have a different way of approaching the game.

“This naturally means there are movements and tactics that will take a while to gel perfectly.”

Last night’s draw was the first official match that Ferrara has not won in his Coaching career, having a 100 per cent record in all five Serie A games between last season and the current campaign.

Before folk go misinterpreting that comment, Ferrara is saying Giovinco is a different type of player to Diego.

He is not saying that Giovinco can never be as good as Diego.

Seems the reporter is just trying to put a negative slant on it.

It is also a good point by Ferrara to point out that it will take time to adjust systems after playing 4-4-2 for so long.

What our friend Ciro means is that Giovinco is a winger and not a trequarstista. The sooner they realize that the better Giovinco can become. I mean, the guy says it himself, he cant run around with big DM's(and Cb's) like Diarra and Fernando chasing him.

Yeh, the difficult issie on Giovinco is that unlike Diego, he cant muscle with his markers and if any coach with half a brain put man mark on him, and use string defensive guys, Giovinco will have much more troubles than Diego´s to perform.
We need to rememebr than in both games of Diego in Juve, he received a lot of rough tackles, and in the first roma goal he got tackled a lot in his way to the goal but suceeded in the end. Gio would have been fouled and send flying somewhere.

He and Ferrara need to find a way to solve this, it could be by making him endure more tackles, or changin his position or having a different approach to the games, but for now, it seems is a no brainer how to stop gio.

When he has the space he will be deadly but in games like yesterday´s when the midfield is full of players and struggles,,, he will get outmuscled.
