I can pretty much garauntee you that we won't be seeing Giovinco starting in anay of the games unless Nedved or Camo are injured. In fact, Ranieri might prefer Salihamidzic because he can help defend on the wings and cover a lot of space.

Ranieri's formation in itself is not suited for Giovinco, we would get exposed if he plays in this formation. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have players like Molinaro covering on the wings.

I think it's even part of the reason our management offloaded Giovinco last season. It's not just because he's inexperienced, it's because Ranieri knows he won't be able to use him in most of the games. He would be taking too much of a risk.
Lets get rid of Ranieri then he is obviously effecting Gio's development.
Ranieri's tactics suck then, as we already knew. Seriously, if he can't find playing time for Giovinco, then perhaps he isn't as good with youngsters as some people think.

we played one game this season, maybe we should wait a bit longer before judging wether giovinco is getting enough time or not?

he didnt even start every game for empoli, ffs.
But that's the thing. We already know how Ranieri fields his teams. He loves the straight 4-4-2, so that probably means no Giovinco unless he pulls a Palladingo with him.

Who knows what Ranieri does, but there isn't a good excuse for not giving Seba playing time if that should so occur.

I was saying this even before the season began. It was obvious that Giovinco does not fit into this 4-4-2 formation. I really hope I'm wrong, but unless Ranieri suddenly grows a pair of balls and tries something new, I don't think we'll be seeing too much of Giovinco this season.

He could fit on the left wing as long as Ranieri allows him a little freedom. But yeah, I don't know if Ranieri has the balls to use him either.

And now we see a train reaction with not buying a new left back. People say we need to use Nedved on the left due to our weakness defensively, so that means no Giovinco for the big matches. This is just another reason why we should have been smarter on the transfer market.

Even before the transfer season began, we thought buying a world class LB was only a matter of time. Imagine another season with Molinaro. Somehow, our management found a way to avoid our biggest weakness and not even attempt to sign a decent LB.

The incompetency of this management is incredible.

does anyone understand that having molinaro means that de ceglie will get his chance sooner rather than latter.
if we bought number of established players you lot would complain about how youngsters arent getting a chance.

guess a word i just thought. starts with "hypo" and ends with "cricy"

That's why we should have rid ourselves of that sorry excuse for a footballer Molinaro in the first place.

So take your crissy and stick it in a hippo.

but would changing system to accomodate rather unexperienced youngster come any good? i think giovinco's best position is left side of 433. and last season on more than one occasion we played that. surely no one expects him to play every game from the start, and later in the game, when he comes on as a sub, tactics can be changed to suit him.

Systems should be changed on the premise of optimising the squad at your disposal. If that means changing system to accomdate a rather unexperienced youngster, then so be it.

I never said we should change any position. Many people here have made the argument that we shouldn't use Giovinco on the left flank (even though he can play there) due to our ineptness at the back, thus why we use Nedved who can get stuck in. Now what I'm saying is that IF Seba doesn't get many chances to play because of our weakness at the back, it's another reason why we should have bought a better left back and replaced Molinaro... so that we could introduce a player who doesn't add much defensively to the system, like Seba.
