there are more criteria to measure a game ...
we can put gio in, even when we are behind ... the criteria is how the team plays.

if we can't put a string of passes together where is the need of giovinco if he does not get a ball or a decent pass anyway?
Giovinco can also take on players, which is important when pressure is on our defense and we have more people behind the ball.

i must admit that i did not see the second half because my stream was crap, but if i am correct that we defended more or less with 10 men, then where could giovinco help there ? if we can't bring the ball properly to our strikers or attacking players then we don't need giovinco.
giovinco is not really known for his defensive qualities, so he would need to have someone who plays the ball properly to him.

when you are under pressure and the opponent attacks it is very difficult to get a proper pass to your teammate that plays more forward.

i think every football player knows what i'm talking about:

when you get subbed in and the team does currently play crap and is under pressure the more you play towards the opponents goal the more frustrated you will get, because the ball will not even come to you or if it comes to you it is not intended and a ball that someone of the opponent misplaced.

i do not want to compare me with giovinco, but i did play not just a few years of football and when your backline sucks and does not succeed to make a decent pass to the midfield then there is not much you can do. as normal midfielder you have the possibility to fall back to collect the ball right in front of your defense, but as attacking player you are dependend on the balls you get from the defenders or more defensive midfielders ... and when this balls are just kicked high out of the own half there is nothing you can do...

trust someone who probably got one or two gray hairs already, because these crap 50/50 passes from the defense are easier for the opponent to get than yourself will just make you frustrated ... you always have to fight for the ball even if the pass comes from your teammate... you dont want giovinco to get gray hair already, do you ?

Its the other way around, neddy will start and gradually lose playing time to giovinco, if indeed CR is planing on playing him as an LW. We can't throw in gio, as good as he is, straight away, hes still relatively inexperienced, add to that a viola game.

Well he didnt impress at all coming on in the second Artemedia game. Infact he looked nothing like a star.

It seems the expectation and burden has already gotten to him, he goes out there as if he needed to prove something, even though we were already winning.

I would seriously integrate him little by little, put him on in games when we are ahead. I would have put him on vs fiorentina. Fiorentina were attacking and we had space. I would have put him and Iaquinta on sooner, for DP and Camo.

But again, I dont think he should be a starter just yet. Perhaps against the smaller teams.

sometimes DP plays worse than that and for the whole match ...... but he is the best ... i think he should start soon just like marchisio .......

I really sometimes absolutely detest people who love to jump to conclusions so insanely gravely (Like some already calling Mellberg totally worthless after one frigging game).

The expectations and burdens has gotten to him already??? Really??? Because he had an off game for the last 15 FRIGGING minutes he played in that useless and unventful Artmedia game? (yes, he played for only so little) You jump to that conclusion based on that? And ofcourse he would go out there trying to prove something, why is that something to criticise, wouldnt be incredibly odd if he didnt?

You guys are so ignorant. The lad came on as a substitute in a game that had already been decided. We were leading on aggregate and the rest of the team didn't want to put in all effort for something that is not worth fighting for.
So Giovinco comes in, and some of you expect him to do some incredible magic that has never been shown before. I mean, the rest of the squad don't give a shit, how is he supposed to play? To run his loungs out and do tricks and stuff that don't matter? Was he supposed to dribble out whole Artmedia and then score from 40 yards into the right top corner?
Just quit bullshitting yourself and give the kid some time to adapt into this squad and some playing time when we are not leading, or at least not comfortably.

Recently I've seen people around here say that we shouldn't risk starting Giovinco, or that we're scared to play Giovinco either from the onslaught or sub him in against Fiorentina. One question - why?

It's almost like we are too afraid to deal with the possibility he may fail or isn't as talented as some people believe. If players such as Balotelli, Pato, et cetera are fielded even while being a U-20, why not Giovinco who is 21? What are we waiting for?

Ranieri better give this player some playing time soon because there's no reason not to. He would have caused Viola more problems and took some of the pressure off our defense.
Yes we should give him playing time and I think we will, but in the case of viola I don't think we should've started him ahead of Pavel, simply because it's against viola (therefore it's a tough and tense match), and it's the first serie a game. Pavel to start would've been better because he's more experienced and has played with the team longer and understands their play more.

If viola was not the first game, and gio has played with Juve in serie a prior to it this season and plays well, I wouldn't mind starting him.
