?

No one's denying his massive talent, and it is a good idea to start him ahead of pavel to test him out for some games - after all how else is he going to improve if he doesn't play. But it's a common thing where we sometimes overhype a player and when they fail just jump on their back. The guy hasn't even played a Serie A game with Juventus. Let's see how it goes, and hope for the best.

The article is a fraud. Giovinco is humble and what he said was

"They often compare me to Messi and Aguero. They are both champions, but they are also football players. I am a football player as well"

Its almost GOAL did it on purpose for him to look like a joke. Really low by goal!

Recently I've seen people around here say that we shouldn't risk starting Giovinco, or that we're scared to play Giovinco either from the onslaught or sub him in against Fiorentina. One question - why?

It's almost like we are too afraid to deal with the possibility he may fail or isn't as talented as some people believe. If players such as Balotelli, Pato, et cetera are fielded even while being a U-20, why not Giovinco who is 21? What are we waiting for?

Ranieri better give this player some playing time soon because there's no reason not to. He would have caused Viola more problems and took some of the pressure off our defense.

I said that today, I thought he was scared to put Giovinco in and I think it's retarded, if you don't throw your talents in the game they won't develop into stars.

that is exactly the point. you have to write "he should have..." and what if he would not have ?

Everybody expects him to be our saviour and then you throw him into a game where the whole team does not play well. that is not a good situation for a first serie a experience with us. he would have it unnecessary difficult to do things right if he just gets crap balls played to far away and has to play with other players that do not run anymore because they are tired so he got no support.

if you wanna see it optimistically than ranieri was smart not to make his first appearance in serie a a disaster for him. i do not say that he must have failed, but the chance that he would have is pretty big (considering the high expectations).

no one wants to start his first game with a crap team that does not play together and fights with 10 men behind the ball. getting bashed by the media afterwards does not help finding the right mentality to start the next game too (when even more pressure is on him, because he "failed" already once)

you all know what happened to palladino with the high expectations we had.
he just tried harder and harder until he just played crap because he wanted too much

p.s.: in general one sub/player do not make a team ... even cristiano ronaldo would not have an easy time with teammates that do not run anymore and no proper passes to him ... if you do not get the ball properly there is nothing you can do

Please do not compare Giovinco to Palladino. One is miles away the better player than the other.

So when should we field him then? Only when we're up 5-0 and the game is already over? Only in the Coppa with the second team? He could theoretically fail in any of these situations.

So what's the answer here? Either way, Giovinco would be subject to a possible failure.

If the player really is talented and has a good head on his shoulders (which Seba seems to have), then there is really no reason to pussy-foot around with the player. The truly talented players in this world find a way to shine, and watching Giovinco play over the past couple years, it would be an insult to him to not give him ample playing time. Especially when a player such as Palladino was played so much last year.

If Giovinco doesn't get playing time, perhaps the media will start labeling him a flop or other people such as that moron on this forum who already called the player flop will start to appear, and that's another way to ruin a player. Not to mention the fact that for players to become great, they have to be given the chance to play if they're old enough, like Jack said. Seba is old enough.

There are too many possibilities here, so the best option is to see what he can do without a doubt.

I'm sure Giovinco will get plenty of chances through the season.

We are likely to play at least fifty games this season and Giovinco hasn't featured in the one game for which he has been available.

If after a few weeks he hasn't been given a chance, you can start criticizing the club, but not yet.

there are more criteria to measure a game ...
we can put gio in, even when we are behind ... the criteria is how the team plays.

if we can't put a string of passes together where is the need of giovinco if he does not get a ball or a decent pass anyway?

this way he will only get frustrated
