the thing is they can, the whole invasion is messed up , it seems that some kind of sabotage is taking place within Russia itself - they had 8 years to prepare, they've started with bombings of ukrainians bases, then what? Excatly, this whole invasion doesn't make ANY sense - move in troops from Crimea and Donetsk to Mariupol, conquer city and then you'll have a connection between DNR and Crimea, but instead they are moving tanks and troops in all directions

Dude, take a look at the map where Mariupol is. You might notice that it's in the Azov Sea, and who do you think controls exit from it?
There is no military vitality in Mariupol, especially for such an inhumane massacre. There is no need to justify everything, sometimes war crimes are just war crimes.
