Tbh the US and west seems to be reading from a script, that's how predictable the Putin playbook is. He's already done the same thing in Georgia and Ukrainian Crimea.

it is more or less predictable so far indeed, based on both intel and experience. i wonder what his endgame is. many think it's the whole (or at least the majority of) ukraine, but that would isolate putin completely in the world, besides china of course. and that's not something he'd want.

nothing really, life goes on but based on my wife who is not happy about this ( she is not a fan of putin ) she is worried about the economy which I understand fully her worries but unlike her, I think this was the expected outcome of the past month of business that was happening. I unlike her and juventino_rus think only the west were caught with their pants down and what were they expecting if russia feels surrounded by nato on its borders. if it was the other way around oh dear me....... so yeah. luckily there is boris johonson for the comedy value he reminds me of a younger brother who takes cover behind his older more powerful brother, threatening lol

and so no genius comes at me saying I find this amusing because it isn't because war is horrible and I hope it doesn't get worse but I don't look at politics with the rosey shades of good guys vs bad guys the bottom line we all get fucked by this.

Russia used to get sanctions in the past and back then they were dependent on the import. When that happened they largely focus on the production and even began exporting on chunks. So yeah, I don't think majority of sanctions would hurt them (but I'm not saying people won't notice it) while I can't say it won't hurt Europe if they get no gas or if/when gas prices hit 2000 euros or more.

Europe already have felt the gas/heating/power price changes in their pockets this winter: and this will only get worse along with food pricing.

as for Russia: there you have a population that is used to this shit and much more durable in that sense.

No doubt about that imo.

Btw, prices have gone through the roof here over the past six-eight months. It's literally insane but such numbers are heavily manipulated so they say inflation is around 7% while in reality it's around 25% (might be more if we talk about food specifically). Prices change drastically and it's happening on weekly bases. It's all related to gas/electricity prices and such thing was/is a small thing compared to what's going to happen if this goes on. And I expect a shitstorm when it comes to the economy, so yeah, fasten your seatbelts we're in for a huge ride.

On one side you have the West, who calculate every penny, threaten with mild sanctions and even within those threats include which sanctions they wont be able to pull off lol.

On the other you have Putin who is going all in and basically threatens with the use of nuclear weapons if anybody from outside should intervene.

You cant win if you dont take risks and Western leaders are playing this as safe as possible.
