Aside from the fact the Ukraine is an important geopolitical country and the U.S has a “surprising” interest for conflicts (Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, etc) , the reaction of every western leader has been very, very soft. Also, I say EVERY party, which means Russia is included.

I’m not saying that they should kill Putin as they did with Soleimani, but it should be clear that an invasion will have a huge cost for the Russian army. At this moment, it seems that Russia invading Ukraine will be quick and effective.

What I think is that Russia will partially invade and the US will sell weapons to Ukraine. The EU will be happy that is only a partial invasion and will stay put, maybe giving some economic relief to Ukraine.

Because the west engaging in a full scale war in the times of nuclear energy is too dangerous maybe. The moment other countries help Ukraine, it could escalate anytime from chemical warfare to anything even worse. Thats probably why they don't risk it and will go for economic sanctions, the West has gotten soft. Russia has all the leverage considering this. Just my opinion.

Yes, they've did the same with South Ossetia - until Saakashvili didn't try to get it back Russian army was doing nothing, but when Georgian army have tried to take it back then Russian army was "helping" Ossetians to fight off Georgians. Same story with DNR/LNR until Zelensky won't move his troops Russian army will be stationed and do nothing
