West needs to become energy independent asap
And by “independent” do you mean energy companies would be forced to only sell within their borders at discount prices?

Because if you don’t suspend capitalism, corporations are going to sell power to the highest contract bidder… many of which will be overseas.

It's a bit off topic' I'll keep it very short. But Solar has a huge environmental cost no one talks about, the minerals and martials are highly toxic, recycling technology isn't there, there are latterly Mountains of old panels stashed in china and they go into water and stuff (that's only the first generation out of commission). Also just the land mass you would need to have solar as a major energy source is a huge blow to the environment, natural habitat of animals, etc. it's renewable but not "green" at all

Wind isn't a very cost-effective tech, and will take a few decades to become as viable as alternatives.

All that without going into the electricity grid network that cant support the fluctuations in energy production and the solution is energy storage, again using nickel' lithium and other toxics that are hard to recycle and costly to mine, very.

On top of all that the economics isn't really there in many cases, many renewable project are economical only because of government subsidies and such so they aren't sustainable independently.
Not saying they should or wouldn't be part of the future energy portfolio, but they will never be more then 30-40% at best 100 years from now.
Nah, know well about the inefficiencies of solar and limitations of wind. But the economics today make it cheaper to build new solar or wind farms than it does to extend capacity at an existing fossil fuel plant.

Fossil fuels still have better storage, but it really is the beginning of the end for them.

Putin will replace himself with another Putin is most likely
Agreed. And RUS kinda confirmed it for me: my suspicion that to make it to the top and lead in Russia requires a Putin. So that is what will always earn the position until further notice.

Well, duh. Everything is finite (except stupidity), and running out of material will force you to seek alternatives. That, by itself, can’t make a technology a “scam”.
Of course not, the scam was to making people believe "green" tech was needed to be developed or invented when we already had it, it was nuclear. And that renewables by themselves could replace oil and gas.

They sent the whole world on a wild goose chase just so they can squeeze another 100-200 years of oil.

While I agree that nuclear should be the future you cannot dismiss the impacts of nuclear incidents of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and lately Fukushima have put on the acceptability of nuclear. We have a local nuclear power plant on Long Island that was never turned on for the same reasons.

That is the only part people, developers and investors see, those cost will become almost negligible in the big picture.
The real problem is the costs of integrating renewables at a national level. those already far outweigh the costs of the actual solar or wind farms in countries that have more then 20-30% of renewable integration.

When price of electricity goes up, and it does constantly, is because you are indirectly subsiding renewables.

of course, but if the same investment would have gone into nuclear the technology would be far more advance and safe. we lost 30 years of progress almost.

I would still argue more people died of pollution, smoke, cancer etc. from oil refineries then nuclear, by far. but as a zero sum game a nuclear accident is much more scary indeed, even though in Fukushima for example no one actually died.

My point is disinvestment in nuclear was not necessarily a conspiracy. There were strong reasons for it.

There were reasons and I never said it was a conspiracy, just that the oil and gas lobby funded and propped the anti-nuclear/peace movements in the beginning and later the green movements as they had common interest, just different reasons to oppose nuclear power.

It's all documented by the way, from the 50's up to today. it's not some secret

it's elections year in hungary, gov't trying its best to stay in power, so when the oil prices started to raise, they introduced an upper limit: one litre of 95 gasoline or diesel can't be sold for more than 480 huf (1.2€ @ 400 huf/eur, rates are fucking volatile too because of the war). imagine the situation now: shell and ömv already stopped importing stuff to hungary because the wholesale price from friday is 640 huf per litre for the gasoline and 717 for the diesel. imagine the losses all those petrol stations make, because nobody's financing their losses lol. people from around the border obviously come to hungary to fill up, smaller stations already introduced limits of 5 litre max per vehicle (lol), many smaller stations already closed, and many stations couldn't even sell the fuel if they wanted because the demand is just way too high.

the limit for prices is valid through may; funny months ahead.

China has announced that they won't help Russian aviation sector with repair parts for airplanes  now ours only option is to pay to Chinese airlines companies to work in Russia

Abramovich is a vampire parasite who got fat feeding off of Russian exploitation and the murder of dissenters.

I normally don't harbor ill will to people, but he deserves Novichok underwear as much as anybody.

Holy crap that's huge. Russia going to run their supply chains off of crawling trains and fleets of old Moskvitchs summoned by Russian mobile apps?

Am I over reacting in questioning how Russia will be able to collectively govern a modern-ish economy that geographically huge using 1940s infrastructure?

It can't, Russian airlines have to give back around 70% of its planes to leasing companies, that's why Russian airlines don't fly anywhere outside of Russia now because their leased planes will be arrested.

Good luck getting replacement parts and using these aircraft anywhere outside of Russia :lol2:
