Surely that's an exaggeration? I think he accepts that such transfers are unrealistic but he did go to see where we stand in this with small offers. Imo he's considering many options including Van Persie but didn't put in much effort in him but he was definitely following the situation to see if there is a bargain.
I am sure he knows that RVP is available, I am sure he made an inquiry, I am sure he got a number and I am sure it all ended there.

Possibly, but I don't think the fee is the stumbling block here. More likely his salary and/or the preference of the player.

Juve were willing to pay a lot of money for Agüero, more than RVP would cost, but evidently not more than Man City.

I don't think that was the case with Agüero either.

You don't think we made a large offer for Agüero? I disagree. You can't buy that sort of player for less than €30m, even without competition. We went into detailed discussions with Atlético, and this was without CL football.

The figures floating around. 22m euros to Arsenal, with a salary of 6m plus bonuses. RVP has apparently left the Arsenal camp and is travelling to Manchester to sign the deal. As reported on TJ.

If those were indeed the numbers, shame on us, because such a deal would have done us more good than harm.

I bene informati affermano che Van Persie avrebbe già lasciato il ritiro dell'Arsenal per recarsi a Manchester
Just rumours, at this stage. I don't think they have even taken Fergie's words into account.

Might be. But I'm assuming that RVP phone call to Juve pretty much ends speculation inn United's favour, because more than a process of elimination, its probably one backed by a final decision on the player's part having made his choice. Matter of time before it goes through. We should know the final numbers by next week, before the Epl curtain raiser.

Do you want to know my interpretation of the smile that Agüero made when asked about Juve? It means that yes Juve tried to offer me a contract but the numbers were silly = Juve did not even bother give an offer to his club when Agüero rejected us from good morning.

This is aguero v2. Jovetic, giovinco, Vucinic, I'll be happy this season. Next one release the dead wood and break the bank for a proper striker.

That's an interesting interpretation.

I think there'll be a positive surprise in the striker department, just reading between the lines with things Marotta has said over the last 3-4 months.

Jovetic is not coming to Juve, the earlier you realize that the better you can handle the news when it is officially confirmed.

JuveJay, you consider Pazzini a positive surprise so I won't take into what you said as something that would please mea

Again, if Matri goes to Milan, I'd be happy if we could get Cassano in return with a few mil on top of that. And then maybe invest it all in Dzeko.

Cassano, Vucinic, Quag/Pazzini, Dzeko and Giovinco.

Pretty impressive line up for a CL.
