And you're surely not assuming 37 goals coming from the Epl to the serie a is a fair yardstick for what he will in all likelihood do here.
No, I was just replying to your completely random comment.
RVP was a victim of three factors in his earlier Arsenal career:
1) Injuries
2) Thierry Henry
3) The Dutch football philosophy; being competent fielded in different positions
Now the first two points are out of the way he is the one true scorer at Arsenal, the only guy in their team who has ever been able to score goals. He would prefer to be withdrawn off a centre forward, as he has no real pace to play as a traditional wide man in a front 3, but now he has to play striker.
Since he has started playing mostly in this role, which was about 2009, he has 57 league goals and 27 assists in 79 games. That would suggest he is pretty good at it and has a lot of value in this position. In his Arsenal career before that, playing as the second striker or wide attacker, he had 39 goals and 23 assists in 115 games.
If you are not convinced by the PL goals then in the CL in the same period he has 8 goals and 3 assists in 15 games.
