Pereyra: 'I like being Pirlo's sub!’
By Football Italia staff

Juventus’ Roberto Pereyra is growing confident playing in Andrea Pirlo's role, whilst he looks forward to the second Borussia Dortmund match.

The 24-year-old replaced the Italian World Champion after 37 minutes in the Champions League Last 16 first leg against the Germans, and he seemingly enjoys being given trust.

“I didn't expect to play so much,” he confessed in an interview with Sky Sports today.

“But as I always said, I'm at the service of the Coach and I always train at 100 per cent to make sure I'm ready whenever something goes wrong.

“And the other day [against Borussia] was a case in which something did go wrong.

“I think we lost a great player [when Andrea Pirlo limped off]. Things were easier when he was in the middle of the pitch.

“But there are others behind him who can replace him.

“I played in that role when I was at Udinese and I found it to my liking.

“That being said, where I position myself comes down to the Coach. I'm always ready to play like he wants me to.”

The Argentinean then went on to discuss the aftermath of the game against Jurgen Klopp's men.

“It was a difficult match, they play some good football. But we followed the plan we prepared during the week.

“We're going to play for the win in the second leg. It's going to be just as difficult, but we always play to win.

“Here at Juventus you're never allowed to let go. You must play every game like you mean to win it.”

Great attitude, sounds very much like a Juventino. Great work, Robby.

Great game. Don't get his haters at all.
Me neither tbh. Before the Supercoppa I think pretty much everyone was happy with his performances, as I was, but that penalty changed the opinion of so may people

I still like him, not enough as some people who think that he'll be a starter for us, but enough to think he'll be a pretty good sub/rotation player.
