he's the man!!
i managed to find poems written by the fans all over the world dedicated to The Great Roberto Baggio
ROBERTO BAGGIO
I do not know if you remember him
I do; wore Italy's colours once.
He's the guy who got them single handedly
into the 1994 world cup soccer finals
and when it mattered the most
blew it in the penalty shoot out.
I don't know if he's forgiven himself
I have.
Somethings aren't destined to be,
and yet -
there's a tragic beauty...
in loss, in ruins.
I'll remember him, always
he tried, you know.

I Write Your Name
On the songs from The Kop
On the tales from The Jungle
On the North Bank of Highbury
I write your name
On the steps of the Maracana
On the door of The Nou Camp
On the roof of The Bernebeu
I write your name
On the twin towers of Wembley
On the jumpers for goalposts
On the wings of Steve Heighway
I write your name
On the toe of Beckham
On the studs of Pele's boots
On the vision of Gustav Sebes
I write your name
On the goals of Bergkamp
On the dreams of Berlusconi
On the left foot of Maradona
I write your name
On the passion of Roy Keane
On the backyard walls
On the scarves held high
I write your name
On the twisted feet of Garrincha
On the precision of Puskas
On the right foot of Tommy Lawton
I write your name
On the dignity of Francescoli
On the timing of Bobby Moore
On the fingers of Yashin
I write your name
On that turn of Cruyff
On the control of di Stefano
On the eloquence of Platini
I write your name
On the power of Beckenbauer
On the creativity of Didi
On the sparks of Mark Hughes
I write your name
On the bricks of the bootroom
On the legend of Duncan Edwards
On the gates of Heaven
I write your name
On the words of Matt Busby
On the mystique of Cantona
On the mazy runs of Gascoigne
I write your name
On the saves of Chilavert
On the redemption of Rossi
On the ambition of Rimet
I write your name
On the hoops of the Celtic
On the angles of Dalglish
On the head of Bill Dean
I write your name
On the cannons of Muller
On the desire of Desailly
On the sweat of Stuart Pearce
I write your name
On the fire of Eusebio
On the tackles of Rattin
On the thunder of Riva
I write your name
On the laces of Tom Finney
On the resolve of Kopa
On the energy of Viera
I write your name
On the gifts of Henry
On the knees of McGrath
On the hips of Roger Milla
I write your name
On the scars of Van Basten
On the heels of Socrates
On the will of Gentile
I write your name
On the lightning of Zico
On the genius of Bob Paisley
On the echoes from childhood
I write your name
On the sadness of Hillsborough
On the miracles of Leonidas
On the light of Jose Andrade
I write your name
On the tricks of Ademir
On the prayer that was Bettega
On the silhouette of Jair
I write your name
On the star of Baresi
On the despair of Baggio
On the stripes of Blanconeri
I write your name
On the webs of Maldini
On the arrows of Hagi
On the socks of George Weah
I write your name
On the scissor kicks of Negrete
On the songs of the magpies
On the stamina of Robson
I write your name
On the sun of Alberto
On the faith in Facchetti
On the limbs of George Best
I write your name
On the sleeves of Denis Law
On the volleys of Charlton
On the tragedy of Escobar
I write your name
On the stones of the schoolyard
On the banknotes of FIFA
On the enigma of Romario
I write your name
On the solitude of Obdulio
On the sadness of Porte
On the riddles of Kempes
I write your name
On the wizardry of Zola
On the tricks of Okocha
On the smile of Shaun Goater
I write your name
On the pusle of Africa
On the earth of strangers
On the stillness of being
I write your name
On the vision of Scifo
On the 10 of Owen
On the heart of Bill Shankly
I write your name
On the strength in Nat Lofthouse
On the pride of Zidane
On the time still left to us
I write FOOTBALL, your name.
