EuroBaggio :) I would want to see that badly, but not with Trap around. Even if he would call him up, too many things have happened and too many players from the team would sulk about his presence ... wouldn't be a goood, memorable farewell match. And to imagine that they could blame him if things didn't turn out the way as expected :broken: , you do realize that the whole world would expect gold, don't you?

You make some good points Nina. But if he was there, and with what italy already has, i wouldn't expect anything else but gold. But even if there was the slightest chance of him making the team, they would never start him and that would be a sad way to see him go out. Funny though, Baggio's website isn't even updated anymore. I looked forward to reading about his thoughts every week in regards to the games.

Italy has a lot indeed, but the irony is that they have a stupid coach who doesn't know how to use all those talents! I did read your idea about the line-up and it is mouth-watering, but come on, Trap would freak out with all those offensive players :D

How long hasn't the site been updated? Maybe it wasn't because of the holidays or is the info even more out-dated?

I think he stopped writing his comments about the time he missed that penalty shot and brescia was playing poorly. hopefully he'll start writing again. i can't believe they didn't fire trap after the last world cup. what a horrible performance that team made. as much as i want italy to win, i was kind of happy about what happened because of what they did to baggio. you think the diving one felt a little better when italy got eliminated??

I don't think his character would allow him to feel that. I'm kind of positive that he wanted Italy to win it, although he was mistreated and said he didn't watch the tournament. He's Italian afterall!

My only logical thought about why they are still opting for Trap is because there's noone else at the moment worthy of the post. And it's even true.

well with the way they firing people or forcing coaches out before trap, u would think they have a lot of coaches to choose from. maybe Sacchi will come back:(

where are u from nina?

Yes Mark, Totti said more or less what you said... he was worry that if Baggio wuold go to the WC all the attention will go on him and all the fans will start booing the team in case Roby was in the bench, so he cleared up that in case he wuold be called he could not expect to be sure of playing always...
Trap probably didn't call up Baggio cause he tought he could upset the others players especially Totti... cause he had not others reason... he didn't have problems with Roby before (in Juve they did very well), he had all the fans and media praying to take him and even a brainless like him could understand that Roby in that WC could really make the difference more than anybody else... so I don't see any other reason... This may be possible cause Totti is like "Trap son"... as you see he is always saying that he is the azzurri leader, he is the best player of the world and you know that (4 example) in Japan he was the only one allowed to have his family and girl-friend in the hotel weare the team was staying? Non even Maldini who was the capitain could take tham in
So imagine 4 the EURO that is the big chance 4 Totti to win the Golden Ball and bla bla bla... he will never be happy to see Roby joining the team cause he know that in that case Roby will be the one who will have all the spotlight...

About the Olimpics I agree with Nina... if the other NT will not take stars too it will be no sense 4 Roby to go... it looks also to me as a media and sponsors idea cause Roby said he never tought about it... anycase yesterday also FIGC president Carraro said he wish to see Baggio in Athens cause he want the gold medal and he want the Olimpic games to be followed by all the country... Let's see what will happen...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In case you are interested there is a petion to convince Roby not to stop playing: you have to write a letter to this address: [email protected] and write in the title "Baggio for ever". All the letters will be given in Roby hands, hoping that fans words will make him change his idea of retiring.

4 the "Baggio to EUROS" the petition address is this: http://eurobaggio.interfree.it/

And 4 the Olimpics this: http://www.robybaggiofanclub.com/RobyOlimpico.htm (to sign you have to click "firma subito" at the end of the page)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here you are some pictures of the wonderful match vs Siena:

http://www.fotodavideelias.it/immagini/immaginibscalcio/060104bssiena/INDEX.HTM

And here a page weare you can find the 4 goals (2 made by Roby and 2 assisted from him) togeder to many others general goals:

http://209.151.89.69/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now the bad news

Roby accused a muscolar prolem during the trainings and his presence in the match vs Lazio is doubtful....

http://www.gazzetta.it/primi_piani/calcio/2004/pp_1.0.268329382.shtml

I really hope that it is nothing serious cause the only chance we have that he will not stop playing at the end of the season is that he will not have anymore injures cause injures and pain are surely what he is bored of...

I wish a nice weekend to both of you ;-)

Oh no! :frown: I really hope he can make it for the Lazio game and help the team again with assists, goals and just his presence on the pitch. He probably has those cramps and muscular problems because he played the whole game last weekend against Siena and that's quite a task for somebody who has been out because of the injurey for some time :undecide:

Totti Trap's "son"? They suit each other very well!:groan:  I used to like Trap, being an ex-Juve coach and everything, but since he became the NT coach I just cannot like him.

WOW! That's quite a list of petitions! :D Can you write in english? Because my italian writting non è molto bene :embarass: :)

Brescia won! :extatic: And Baagio should have had 199 goals by now as that was such a clear penalty made by Mihajlović on Baggio

Such a good result 4 Brescia :thumb:

But the nicest thing IMO was that Olimpico didn't stop to cear and clap Roby 4 all the match :touched: and at 10 minutes to the end when he went under Lazio's Ultras "curva" to kick a corner they dedicated a real "standing ovation" to him :touched: :touched: :touched:
Must be such a satisfation to see that not only yor team fans but also the fans of the team you are playing against (even if they are loosing) are supporting you. This never happened and will never happen anymore, at list in Italy... I am so happy 4 Roby :extatic: all this love which surround him is IMO more important than any Scudetto or Golden Ball :touched: :touched: :touched: :touched: :touched:

P.S.: Of course Nina, you can write in english ;) they will understand...

Just a quick thought about Baggio and the olympics...

I think its a bad idea- Baggio is too good to play in the olympics..

When people think of "soccer championships" they think of world cup, European Championships, scudetto, Champions league, not the damn olympics. It means nothing !!!!

Roby is too good for it !!!!

Roby needs to come and play in America.

The New England Revolution, to be more precise.

It will actually give me a reason to go to the games.

Indeed a great thing to do from the Laziali! :touched: I got an extra-detailed report from the match from my friend in Rome who's a Lazio season ticket holder and got all soft when I heard what they did! :star: But I believe we will see more of this things throughout the season because everybody will want to tahnk Roby. I always loved this thing about him, you know, that everybody loves him or at least like him, no matter if he was their ex-player or not! Just shows how much he means to calcio! :)

You wanna kill him? :eek::D

Baggio in the US could be a good idea, bring some glamour into the sport and with his ability to win the hearts of the people, he might just raise the popularity of the game. :)

Sounds like he took some pointers from the "Gladiator" about winning the crowd :D

Nina, some of us here in the States are really big football fans, and a lot of them, myself included (Italian Americans), are very big supporters of Italy and especially Roby.

I've only gotten to see him in person at the WC '94. Plus, he WOULD be treated like royalty among the football fans here.

So, I'm sorry if what I say offends you, but I would love to have him here, and he would do great here as well.

Sorry Serge,

but bringing Roby to the MLS would be like Michael Jordan playing pro basketball in Siberia.......... NO WAY !!!!!!!

ROBY IS WAY TOO GOOD TO BE PLAY IN SUCH A LAUGHABLE LEAGUE !!!

WHY DONT YOU JUST SUGGEST THAT HE DRESS UP LIKE A CLOWN AND JOIN THE CIRCUS ???!!!!!!!!!! :D:D
