++ [ originally posted by USA Juventini ] ++
Did anyone happen to watch RAI International on Sunday, when they mentioned something about Roby possible going to Australia???

If he's willing to go to Australia, then come to the US, Dammit!!!!!!!!!!
I heard about this... an Australian team (the biggest one) president said that his dream is to see Roberto Baggio playing 4 his team also cause ther's a lot of peaple with Italian origins in Sidney 4 who Baggio is the simble of their of their own country. He added that beeing Roby contract with Brescia expiring at the end of the season he will do his best to convince him to go to Australia... But actually something similar happen every year with teams of all the countrys... and at the end of the season there will be again so many voice... but what Roby said is that this will be his last season playing
Well maybe he will change his mind (I hope!!!) but IMO he will close his career in Italy...

Here are some Juve-Brescia pictures:

http://www.robertobaggio.com/upgrades_pages/PageNews155.htm

So bad to see him so down after the penalty
Looks like he has some mental hattrik with penaltyes lately... he is the best penaltyes kicker in the earth, till last year he had the best average of success of ever in Italy... but now looks like he cannot be "cold" like before. Or well... maybe he was emotionated cause (looks wierd cause he left almost 10 years ago) this was his first penalty vs Juventus after he left.

The Delle Alpi peaple welcomed him in very different ways... there weare some banners 4 him like a big one that said "Roberto you are always with us" and some peaple clapping him but also some booing him especially saying that he will always be a "viola".

An other goal 4 Roby!
Now he is at 196 serie A goals... so near to 200 :cheesy: just 4 missing :extatic:
The goal was very nice, he got a long assist from Brighi skipped the goalkeeper and scored almost from the bottom line :extatic:

How he made it to score from that position? Sometimes he is so perfect that looks he play soccer like it is billiards :D

You can download the goal here:

And here the Italian comments to it... very passionate! :D

Ciao Baggiontini :)

Roby indeed is closing up on that gap to reach the so long awaited 200th goal :extatic: but in the meanwhile Brescia is falling in the standings  If they don't collect themself they'll be relagated to Seria B. I know it's still soon, but seriously it doesn't look good. I want back Mazzone!

Ciao Nina :) Happy to see you again :extatic:
Yes you are right... Brescia is sucking :groan: and IMO the fault is mainly of the goalkeepers... They already tried 3 of them (Castellazzi, Saja, Agliardi) but who ever go in the field do something ridicolous :( Did you see the goal of last sunday? I din't not even see a mistake like this when I play soccer with my friends :D
Anycase also Mazzone is missing
Roby was doing well and he has now just 4 goals missing to 200 :) but he soffer of lombago (back pain) and infact he asked to be changed sunday and is still unsure if he will be able to play vs Modena cause he still feel bad and infact he is not training

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a new book about Roby :)
I haven't bought it already but I have been told is amazing, the title is:

Roberto Baggio, L'eletto
(Roberto Baggio, the elected)
By Marco Filacchione, Adriano Stabile and Patrizio Cacciari

Here is a link to the new:
http://sport.libero.it/calcio/gossip/primo_piano.jsp?id=gossip&idNews=2741&agency=gossip

So let's see how many others books about Roby are avaliable :)

-Toccato da Dio. Le sette vite di Roberto Baggio
(Thouched by God. The seven lifes of Roberto Baggio)
By Enzo Catania

http://www.liminaedizioni.it/griglia_libro.cfm?art_codice=26&codice_collana=1

-Ti ricordi, Baggio, quel rigore?
(Do you remember, Baggio that penalty?)

-Il rapimento di Roberto Baggio
(The abduction of Roberto Baggio)
By Giorgio Comaschi

http://www.pendragon.it/libri/Le_avventure_di_Tom_Carta/libro-368.html
(this is a "fantasy story" about a guy who decided to kidnap Baggio not a book on Roby's life)

-Orfeo Baggio
By Mario Morisi

http://www.mariomorisi.com/baggio.php
(also fantasy about a guy who pretend to be Roby- This will be acted in theatre soon)

+ obviously the 2 books ("Una porta nel cielo" and "Il sogno dopo") written by Roby himself, many pictures books and many chapters dedicates to him in soccer books about Serie A, WC, Italian NT, his teams, exetera.
A very good "score" :thumb:

An other funny thing not about soccer:
Baggio popolarity is now so strong that he is even in grammatic books who are given in public school... in beetwin exercies about sobject, object and adjective you will find the sentence: "Roberto Baggio nickname is The Divine Ponytail" :D
http://www.robertobaggio.com/upgrades_pages/PageNews179.htm

It is truly umbelivable how a sportman could reach all this... we can already say that he is "immortal" because he is already such a simble 4 his country that he will be remambered 4 ever :touched:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some pictures of the unlucky (Brescia lost and Roby got injured  ) match vs Udinese:

Ciao Mate :extatic:

The goal was indeed cheap  Hopfully it will not repeat! :groan: 3 keepers, really?! :undecide: That's not good, meaning that all sucked, but then again, maybe they should let one of them play a bit more, people have bad days sometimes

Roby didn't play this weekend, meaning he still feels the pain in his back :frown: Brescia did OK, got a draw against Modena, but they could and should do better than that since Modena is considered an easier team for Brescia.

Another book?!? :dazed: :D Gee, he really must lead an interesting life (meant in an ironic way, since we all know that his personal life is very normal and his caracter doesn't allow up-sets with players or refs, like for example Roy Keane) :D BTW, do you have all of them Mate? :D

I don't doubt that Baggio will be immortal :touched:

That's one funny example they put in the school books :howler: :D :thumb:

Ciao again ;)

Oh yes all the keepers sucked badly! IMO Saja (the Argentinian one) was the less worst but now looks like they want to insist on Agliardi who is the 3° keeper and who is the one of the ridicolous goal awarded to Udinese, but at list he is very young (20) so who knows maybe he can improuve...
Anycase what a mistake to let Sereni go, cause Brescia lost sooooo many points just 4 the ridicolous keepers they have.

Yes Roby still injured  The voices of his contitions are as usual very confused cause he is keeping on his press silense and he even stopped to speak trought his web site so no media has a clue and every one invent a different thing :groan: Hopefuly he will be recovered 4 the next match... let's see if he will train with the team or not this week, this is the only signal we can have cause as I said media are not trustable and every newspaper say a different thing about him :blah:

Oh no... I don't have every book, I have the 2 books written by Roby himself but not those wrtten by others about him. But a friend of mine said that this new one is very nice, cause also if the text is not so different from the rest this is the only one with pictures.

Well... let's hope Roby will be back soon... I want to see him arrive to 200 goals as soon as possible :thumb:

No "Una porta nel cielo" is just an authobiography, there's no pictures in it, at list in the original version in Italian. In the traductions I don't know...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roby did not recover 4 sunday
I'm afraid we will not see him again before 2004 :frown: :sob:

Here I am ;)

Not many news on Roby conditions :groan: but one thing is sure: unfortunately he cannot play tonight during the "Zamorano match" in Santiago del Chile cause he is still soffering 4 backpain
He is in his Argentinian "fazenda" right now, let's hope that he will feel better when he will be back :)

A recent picture of him with Maradona:

Why does he have a house in ARG? He likes the country soo much or does he have some relatives there? :undecide:

Where was this pic taken? :D Roby looks very dressed-up  unlike Maradona :howler: You really couldn't have missed him in that green :D

Buon Natale :)

He has a holyday house in Argentina, I think it's a big farm in the country side. Roby often speak about Argentina and say that he will like to live there when he will quit soccer so I suppose he likes that country a lot :)

The picture I think was during the "walk of fame" inauguration in Montecarlo. Roby look so nice and young compared to Maradona but he already has more white hairs than him :D

Btw, nina, do you like the new Brescia jersey?

They made the wierd decision to change the sponsor during the season switching from Umbro to Kappa but looks like it was a big success!
It is not already out everyweare but is selling like crazy, already 15000 Baggio n 10 jersey weare selled and even in remote countryes like Korea they have an average of 10 jerseys selled a day. This is already a record and will certainly improuve cause in some countrys weare the request is so hight like 4 example Japan is not already out...

IMO is very nice... I never liked Brescia jerseys that mutch... but this one is cool... maybe 4 the first time I will buy one :)

Buon Natale also to you! ;)

Yes I like it, I like everything Kappa makes! :star: Brescia is soo lucky to have them as a sponsour! The shirt didn't change that much, but the things they did differently look better than they did before :) I like the white kit better than the blue one

I will probably get a Brescia shirt with his name on the back too, since I can't find a Juve one :undecide:

Anyway, enjoy the holidays :)

Baggio Announces Retirement

The day all Italian and football lovers dreaded has arrived; Roberto Baggio today declared that he will be retiring at the end of the season.

The divine ponytail has reluctantly decided that this will be his last season as a professional player, mainly due to his physical problems which do not allow him to run as much as he wants to anymore.

When asked by a local Brescia radio station if he was going to retire at the end of the season, the 36-year-old forward replied: "I think so. This is the idea that I have today and I think that it will be definite."

Baggio blamed his injuries for taking this decision, "My career has been conditioned by injuries that in all of these years have caused me to have an unbalanced run. And such an unbalanced run gives me more pain, which at my age are harder to fight back."

Hello Mate and all.

A very sad day indeed. Baggio is still a great player in Serie A. If only Brescia had gone out and purchased some good players to play with him this year - I think if they were higher in the standings Baggio would play another year.

I'm very glad I took the trip to see him play against Sampdoria this year. At least I can say that I saw the Codino play live. Mate, what are the chances that Baggio is just saying this to try and get better support for the national team in euros. He's done this before, and Mazzone has talked him out of retirement. Maybe a Baggio - Mazzone reunion in Bologna for next year? Nothing would make me happier than to see him play one more year.

this really hurts........

But probably not half as much as poor Roby's knees every time he runs......

The game cannot be fun anymore when all you feel is pain while playing.....
