Roberto Baggio has dismissed reports that he is set to terminate his Brescia stint at the end of this season.

Media speculation had suggested that the former Italian international would quit the game or accept a big money move to Japan.

But the Azzurri legend has reassured Brescia boss Carlo Mazzone that he will be still playing for the Lombard outfit in the new campaign.

"These reports have no foundation," he revealed on his official website. "I have signed a contract with Brescia until 2004 and I intend to honour it. I’m also not thinking of retiring."

Baggio is now 36-years-old but is still a key figure in Mazzone’s plans for the Serie A side – who have now gone 12 games unbeaten.

Baggio is doubtful for the game against Torino this weekend as he has some sort of calf problems :undecide: This is not a good time as Brescia have a chance to come up the table a little more, facing the smaller teams.

Roby didn't play  he was not even in the bench :down:

But Brescia won anycase with a penalty scored by Pep Guardiola, and now they are in a kind-a-safe situation with 32 points, the same of Roma :D

he has a calf strain...
Looks also that the back pain problem who had afflicted him all the season is not over
Let's hope that this rest was useful and that he will be back 4 the next game :)

To be the most famos person of Italy but with nobody reconizing you anymore?
That will be the subject of a theatre opera with Roby as a subject... it will be performed in France!
And now after having so many web-sites, books and songs dedicated to him, Roby has also a theatre opera!
Also a mouvie is needed :D

Gazzetta dello Sport and Bresciaoggi have published two articles of Marco Bencivenga, who has met Mario Morisi - Parisian reporter and writers - author of "Orfeo Baggio", the first theatrical performance dedicated to the Divine Ponytail.

Can you proof to be the real Roberto Baggio after an earthquake has broken all the computers of the world and nobody can check your identity? This is the challenge of a foolish man who without identity papers is found by the French police at the scene of a crime.
The unique possibility for him to avoid the jail - thanks to the big black-out - is to steal the identity of the famous player and to pretend to be him. And the police-agents, an old marshal and a young detective girl, will interrogate him asking facts, episodes and anectodes those only the real Baggio can really know.
This is the story of "Orfeo Baggio", a theatrical performance written by the Parisian Mario Morisi, a reporter and writer of Italian extraction. "I have learnt Italian listening to the radio the commentaries of the Italian matches and reading that strange sport newspaper with the pink pages (La Gazzetta dello Sport). The basis of the show is to represent the frustration of who speaking is considered a liar: the tipique destiny of the artists.
The performance starts with the false Baggio who, while is dribbling among the ruins, is arrested as the principal suspected of a murder. In the police-department he will try to persuade the agents he is not a killer, but the famous football player. They will ask him a lot of questions, those only the real Baggio could answer, and he will be able to do it.
This show will be a way to narrate football also for who doesn't like it, a way to demonstrate sport can be an inspiration for a work of art" and a way to give a tribute to Roberto Baggio, without asking him or taking from him nothing.
Philippe Ambrosini, ex football player in the French Series C and good actor, will play the role of Baggio: "I have acepted the role" says Ambrosini, "because Baggio is a special personage; he is always driven by passion and by the strength to make real his dreams".

Hello baggiontino Mate, where have you been ? :cheesy: :D

As flattering as the opera might sound, I must agreew ith Alex and say it's silly. It won't turn out good and therefor make fun of Robby IMHO.

Apparently the theater play will be in French cities (Paris, Saint Etienne and Besançon).
I'm agree, it's a silly idea; but looks funny! :D
Anycase it will be not about Baggio real life but about a "fantastic" story... so it will not have nothing to do about Roby himself. IMO that's the only way in which a mouvie or a theatre play about Baggio can be done, cause peaple already know a lot of his life and cause a mouvie played by an actor will never be exciting like a documentary with the images of the real Baggio playing soccer.

This guy look pretty crazy but with no dubt an interesting person :)

President Gino Corioni claims that both Roberto Baggio and boss Carlo Mazzone will still be at Brescia next season.

There has been speculation that both key men could quit the Lombard outfit but the Stadio Rigamonti chief maintains that won’t happen.

"Baggio will still be with us despite the many offers that he has received," stated Corioni. "He is an extraordinary player. The best the world has ever seen after Pele and Maradona."

The Italian legend has been linked with a move to Japan to end his career despite still having one-year to run on his current contract.

Reports recently have also suggested that Mazzone could depart if he is not guaranteed a competitive squad in the new campaign.

"No one is as gifted in suiting tactics to the players he has available," continued Corioni. "Mazzone is a very prepared Coach and I’m keeping hold of him."

Mazzone, who has been at Brescia for the last three years, has complained on numerous occasions this term that he wasn’t happy with last summer’s transfer campaign.

"La Gazzetta dello sport" newspaper revisited the most beautiful goals of the current season and they choose as the first Roby goal vs Piacenza :thumb:

Here is the top 5:

1) THE DIVINE
1° february 2003, 19° turn, Piacenza-Brescia 1-4: Bachini found Roberto Baggio with a soft pass. For the first moment the Codino do not care of the ball, cause he is watching the goalkeeper and this is the sign of how he is sure and how he is dominating the situation. Checked out Guardalben, Baggio coordinate and send the ball in the net with a simply perfect "flying right". On the tecnical side this is the most beautiful goal of this championschip, at list for the moment.

2)FABRIZIO MICCOLI
9° february 2003, 20° turn, Perugia-Milan 1-0

3)DAVID TREZEGUET
9° march 2003, 24° turn, Udinese Juventus 1-0

4)PAVEL NEDVED
15° march 2003, 25° turn, Juventus Modena 3-0

5)BEPPE SIGNORI
16 march 2003, 25° turn, Bologna-Udinese 1-0

P.S.: I did not do the translation of the descriptions of all the goals, it takes too long , but I guess you remember them... at list Treze and Neddy goals!

P.S.2: They choose also the "most ugly goals" and guess who is the winner? Vieri/Toldo/who knows Inter goal vs Juve of the 19 october 2002, 6° turn.

Napoli peaple always loved Baggio and wanted him to join their club but 4 many reasons (money problems and Roby preference of not beeing far from Vicenza) this "wedding" never happened also if Napoli ex-presidents tryed many times to buy him.
Now Napoli is passing to a new president, Marco Di Mauro, but the dream is always the same!
He said that his dream is to make Napoli playing again in serie A and especially to see Roberto Baggio wearing Napoli jersey. He added that he is ready to do everything to convince him.

From http://www.tgcom.it/ArticoloTgCom/articoli/articolo115328.shtml

Also Florentia president Diego Dalla Valle said many times that his dream is to see Roberto with the viola jersey again and ending his career with the team who bought him when just 17 and in a city who never forgot him.

http://www.soccerage.com/it/13/k5487.html

Both hipotesy are "romantic" and "suggestive" but I think that Roby will stay in Brescia, I don't think that he will feel like changing jersey again. Anycase "mercato" rumors never stop around him

In this days ther's not so many news about him cause he is not traing in Brescia with the team but alone with his "private trainer" Enrique Miguel. Let's hope that this pause will be useful 4 him to get over the back pain who is making hard his season.

http://www.soccerage.com/it/13/l6917.html

In the pic Roby with Enrique Miguel, the man who is taking care of him 4 so many years following him every weare and in every team.

Definitely Baggio is an admirable striker.
The years go over him, and he continue scoring!.
I hope that all strikers were so productive like baggio.

One thing I don't know - why did he chose Brescia in the first place? It's not like this was the only club that wanted (wants) him. Was it because he is somehow related with the club, because of the coach, because it's not far from his home? Why was Brescia thé one?

Most of the teams who tried to get him when he left Inter came from EPL, Liga and JLegue and also if they offered him more than double than Brescia he really cared on staing in Italy.

From the Italian teams he was wanted by Fiorentina and Bologna but he said he do not belive in "come backs" than by Napoli and Reggina but he picked Brescia cause he preferred to stay close to home so he didn't have to make his kids changing school.
Also Atalanta tried to take him and in this case i guess his choice was cause he estimate and trust Mazzone a lot.
More or less this is how Roby explaned his choice...

IMO in this case he made a good choice. :thumb:

Baggio made so many bad choices in his carear, the worst leaving Bologna 4 Inter :irritate:, but picking Brescia it was the right thing IMO.

At the moment I remember I ceared 4 Bologna or Napoli or Fiorentina in the "race" of getting him and I was disappointed by his decision but now I think the opposite, cause in Brescia he found a coach who fit percetly with him.

I think it was grate that he didn't leave Italy too, cause also if the teams who wanted him from abroad (in them I remember Barcellona, Valencia and Arsenal) are way bigger than Brescia; he was already 32 and I think that he didn't have enought time to make the history in another league, he wuold be just "the event of few season"; while in serie A he's the biggest legend of ever.

One think I really hope is that he will close his career here in Italy! Never mind the team...

I have no doubt that he'll close it here :) I also think that Brescia will be his last club, although that depends a bit from Mazzone staying or not.

Not all players would chose a smaller club over the biggies and I respect him soo much for that, but I cannot but think that his talent is wasted a bit there

I think exately the same. IMO ther's so many rumors around him just cause he do not speak with the media and he do not train with the team so they do not know what to write about him
But if Mazzone leave Brescia

I don't know if his talent is wasted in Brescia...
Brescia are not covered by media so mutch, so 4 all his international fans is difficolt to see his matchs and it's a schame; but he is doing something enourmous 4 this team who before getting him never remained more than 1 year in serie A. And than consider that with all the physycal problems he has is hard to belive that a big team wuould count on him so mutch, while in Brescia he plays even injured if he want to and they builded a team of "runners" aroud him in pourpose of supply his phisycal limits, leaving him free to express his talent without too many worryes.
