T&T and Bahrain played out an intriguing 1-1 draw in Port of Spain which certainly puts Bahrain in the driver's seat ahead of Wednesday's second leg.
The visitors started the game very cautiously but as the first half went on they grew in confidence and composure and created the best chance of the half. Edwards was very dangerous on the right wing for the Trinis but his entertaining dribbling didn't result in an end product.
Trinidad and Tobago tried to take the game to Bahrain at the start of the second period but Latepe, Yorke and John played below their ability and Bahrain took the lead. Lapse marking on a corner kick gave Salman Isa the space required to head home a crucial away goal. The goal seemingly sprung the home side into action and Chris Birchall came up with an absolutely brilliant equaliser. The ball fell to Birchall about 25 yards out and he smacked a spectacular first time volley beyond the reach of the Bahrain keeper.
In the end I think that 1-1 is a disappointing result for T&T but perhaps a fair one as Bahrain didn't deserve to lose.
