So was Zidane lucky to score that volley against Leverkusen in the CL final years back? Was Rooney's world-class strike against Newcastle Utd last season lucky? I don't think so. They were low percentage chances but Zizou and Wayno scored because of supreme technical expertise. I believe that the same applies to Birchall's goal last night.
Maybe I should've added a smilie after that.. :p

Yeah, I agree with ya, man.. I'm still gutted about it, though..

Well 1-1 is a good result for you guys as I can't see T&T keeping a cleansheet in Bahrain. IMO neither team deserved to lose last night.

Indeed.. Their right-winger (#11.. Edwards, was it?) wreaked havoc for our defense.. Thankfully nothing much happened from his side..

Yes, Edwards is indeed a very skillful player and had the beating of his marker (or markers as it was at times). He's a good dribbler with good close control but his final pass left something to be desired so despite a lot of crowd pleasing moves he didn't really make much of a difference. Russel Latepe, Dwight Yorke and Stern John were very disappointing. Trinidad and Tobago will need them to step up in the second leg if they are to qualify.

No. IIRC Latepe wore #10 (the guy with the long hair). Stern John played upfront and really didn't get involved. I would have liked to see Latepe play behind Yorke and John but in the first half Yorke played as an attacking midfielder and Latepe pulled wide left.

Oh.. then in all fairness, I saw Latepe as the most active man up front.. He really seemed to be trying his best, but the rest weren't up to par..

Yeah, Latepe was the best of the attackers and he started the game quite well but given the circumstances I was expecting a little bit more. I'm not sure why he was subbed so early because as you say he was more active than Yorke or John.

I saw the first half. The Czechs didn't play very well as a team, passing was sketchy and disorganized. Nedved was decent, should have scored from a good cross but his header was straight at the keeper. It was an easy victory though.

I saw the first half as well and I thought that Nedved was rather subdued. He had a hand in the goal and tested the keeper with a header from a Baros cross but on the whole he was fairly quiet as the Czechs were unable to keep possession for long periods of time.
