    but why wouldnt he be?
i couldnt think of anything worse than my country not making the world cup!

    chxta, keep rambling on! hahaha
in general, I think it is ridiculous that the African nations have only 5 places to divide, while I think Africa has the most countries of all continents, among which very big, populous nations, with a large footballing culture.

You can see now that more teams are getting to a higher level (Angola, Togo et al.) but the number of our slots isn't improving. What if all African nations start to develop like Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa? Will we still have 5 slots? Ridiculous and not well thought off.

France have also done shitty, but they can still qualify, while Nigeria and Cameroon for instance cannot permit themselves a lousy campaign, because they will be out.

The qualifying system isn’t fair and should not be that either.
Yeah, I know. Weird but true.

    For example.
France may not qualify but Uzbekistan will play in play-off against Bahrain. The winner in that match will meet Trinidad and Tobago or Guatemala.
I would say that France is galaxies away from all those countries. But its important that we spread the interest of the world cup all over the globe!!!

Europe and South America has the highest standard and should by a sportsmanship measure have more teams in the competition, but not in the interest above. Since the start of world cup the winning teams has all come from those 2 continents!

Africa has 5 teams in the competition witch IMO is enough at the moment.
The teams aren’t better than that today. But as I said, that’s my opinion.
If they succeed and improve their results there should be a change eventually.

    Hear hear :thumb:

And might I add to that, the fact that I find it exceedingly pathetic to blame the failure of qualifying of a nation on the system. Everbody knew what the system would be like in advance; if you don't like it: object THEN or don't participate out of protest but keep your mouths shut at the end.

    France may not qualify ...
To not qualify, France needs to lose to Cyprus while Ireland-Switzerland turns out to be a draw. There are two chances of that - none, and none.

Actually france would not qualify if the swiss win(like they did lastg tima)...as they would have to make up 4 goals, I just dont see that happening with their sterile offense. I have my money on france not making it.

They go into the playoffs. Not safe yet, true, but remember the Swiss are playing a team of a similar level, away, who need a win to have any chance at all.

if france beat cyprus tomorrow they at least take the 2nd spot
Yep. And even the worst Irish performance since Macedonia didn't stop us beating them on Saturday, so I'm backing the French there. :)

    You guys kinda lost me....:embarass:

Are France all but in, or all but out?
Almost certainly have a playoff spot at least. If Swiss don't win, and the Irish don't win by a bigger margin than the French, they {France} top the group, qualifying automatically.
