so technically we cant judge the merits of this mercato until the end of the 2013 season, and even then we have to look at the team and see which position we didnt fill right, now, and if by a miracle that position is filled successfully in-house, a la chiellini, then we should also see that failure as of course a success...
You can do as you feel fit, but the final judgement will be the league table.

I've tried to make sense of it all. This debacle of a mercato and the only explanation that comes to mind is that this 'new' Juve has tried to accomplish a few things:

1) Clean up Secco & Co.'s mess; their signings, their wage structure, etc.
2) Reinforcing each department of the team on a limited budget
3) Find new homes for players past their day OR while they can still bring in some $$

There was a lot to be done to revamp this team and it had to be done in a very short time period. People on here always complained about the likes of Zebina, Grosso, Legro, Sissoko, Amauri, etc. All these positions now see a different player. Sure, they're far from great but with a 50m budget I think it was very naive to expect world class players in each of these positions.

Pros: Krasic :xfinger:, Aquilani :xfinger:, Bonucci :xfinger:, Storari
+/-: Motta, Quag, Pepe, Martinez
Cons: Diego (maybe)

I'm willing to give this management, Marotta & Co., one more year before I wage Jihad on them.

Anyway, this was me trying to stay positive :boh:
 Nothing more to add.

Storari
Positive: Good last season.
Negative: We had Manninger, he's an excellent reserve.

Motta
Positive: We needed a new RB and hey, he's a new RB.
Negative: He was benched at Roma, he's not good defensively and is he good enough to start for Italy's biggest team?

Bonucci
I like this signing a lot. Can't say anything bad about it.

Traore
Positive: ?
Negative: He's not good enough, no option to sign, don't like it.

Rinaudo
Positive: ??
Negative: ??

Krasic
Quality signing.

Aquilani
Positive: He was a great player with Roma, great signing when fit..
Negative: Way, way, way too injury prone. I have a bad feeling he won't play much this season.

Martinez
Positive: Don't know that much about him but he scores a lot of goals.
Negative: Mediocre, no real position for us, too expensive, we could have done so much better.

Pepe
I absolutely hate this signing.

Lanzafame
Positive: He scored a lot of goals for Parma, he's young.
Negative: Can't really see anything bad about this transfer, maybe we should have believed in Seba instead of getting him back.

Quag
Positive: He can score some nice goals.
Negative: Everything else, we could have aimed so much higher.

ok, here we go.

Keepers:

We got last year's best(or close to it) keeper in Italy in Storari to replace the injured Buffon. We paid 4.5m € for him. Could they have got him for a bit less? Maybe but that's not a big deal. Very good addition.

Costantino. For the Primavera and 3rd choice with Bonassi. Not really important.

Chimenti out. Excellent! Well, he was good as a motivator.

Defense:

Motta. Wasn't my 1st choice, or 2nd, 3rd...Was good in training. Didn't pay much. Should learn to defend better.

Bonucci. Nice prospect. Can he handle the pressure of stating for Juve? It remains to be seen. Price a bit high.

Rinaudo. 4th choice, we'll probably see a lot of Legro. Not my cup of team. Won't hurt being on the bench. Hoping for no injuries.

Traoré. A loan. Would have preferred a more complete fullback. Not my 1st, 2nd...choice. Should have done better. Can't start all year with Paolo.

Players out. Molinaro, Canna, Criscito, Zebina...Good.

Midfield:

Pepe: Never rated him. Plays hard and that's it. No real talent. Don't like this deal. 2.6m loan and 7.5m buyback is abysmal.

Lanzafame: backup. Didn't cost us anything. Don't want to see him start a lot.

Martinez: I liked him at Catania. 12m is a bit high. See him more as a support striker. He could do well for us. If he's not injured.

Krasic: Very good. Not a lot of right wingers available. Could have used his will to come here to lower the price tag but I won't complain. He's here.

Aquilani. Injuries is the only negative in this.

Mids out. Poulsen, Diego and Camo. It was time for Camo to leave. Wouldn't have sold Diego at all. Was doing very well so far this season and COULD play with a forward next/in front of him. Don't understand this one. Stupid move. We better have an option for Dzeko and even that, I could have seen them play together. I'll see that in the Budesliga. Different league but will be nice to see. Poulsen didn't hurt us. Can pass much better than Momo. Could have stayed if a good offer for Momo was on the table. I don't know what's happening to him. Doesn't even run, tackle...like before.

Forwards:

Trez out. ok but can we make some money on these guys? ok so we saved on wages.

Quag? What? Come on! 4th/5th choice ok but we have DP getting older, Iaq injured all the time, Amauri injured and not a 20 goal scorer. We needed that guy who banged goals for fun. You fail Marotta.

loans/co-ownership...

I'll just name a few. Marrone, Immobile, Iago, Giovinco, Pasquato, Tiago...

Could have kept Seba, Marrone and Pasquato but I guess they thought these palyers would play more elsewhere. Hey Beppe! They're Italian!!!

Palla, Almiron, Ekdal, Ariaudo, Esposito...

Would have kept Ekdal as backup. Ariaudo could have done the job as 4th choice CB.

I'll give em' a 3.

This doesn't count but for the Primavera I'll give them a 5. Great job Fabio.
Nice view really.

As for Trezeguet (the bold and a different size part) , I thought we have to pay his wages am I right?

We signed 12 players:
Storari (4.5 mln)- reliable but expensive backup for Buffon. Mannigner was already good enough (2 out of 5)

Bonucci (15.5 mln)- not worth all the money we paid considering Diego left for 15 mln and Robinho went to Milan for 18 mln. He may end up being worth it and I think he will but I'm inclined to think we overpaid (3.5 out of 5)

Motta (loan 1.5 mln)- When you ay a 1/3 of a player's value to loan him then you've overpaid for the loan. He'll come good as a starter if he can prove he is Juve XI material- if not a valuable backup in the years to come.

Rianudo (loan 0.6 mln)- not Juve quality, wasn't even considered Napoli quality as he is a backup over there. So WTF?

Traore (loan 0.5 mln)- disappointing considering LB has been our weak link for a while. There isn't too much competition for LB so he'll get his chance and may come good, but this signing is like chatorulette you may end up with a penis, you may end up with a wuss.

Sorenson- couldn't even find a picture on the internet. I feel like Marotta wanted to take the focus off our last two bullshit signings by signing this anonymous creature.

Martinez (12 mln)- another very expensive gamble. We should be able to get more for 12 million. He's not proven at this level though and we'll have to see if he can step up his game.

Pepe (loan 2.6 mln)- good tactical player if the rest of the team is functioning properly. He'll have his good days and his bad days but in the end he's only a tiny bit better than Marchionni (whom we got for free, and let go for free.)

Aquilani (loan)- great player, hot girlfriend, I'm about it! He can pull the strings much better than Marchisio in midfield and I think we've made a major enhancement to our midfield by signing him. We just need to keep him fit- which is our specialty ;)

Krasic (15 mln)- quality signing, but looking at his physique you know he'll need at least a year to hit full gear. If he does it before then, then cheers to him he will have outdone himself. God knows if we will give him that full year.

Lanzafame (co-ownership)- more versatile than Giovinco, but not half Gio's quality (or Palladino's who is still half ours by the way). Good player but we could've done better.

Quagliarella (loan 4.5 mln)- who pays 4.5 mln euros to LOAN a player?!?! Imagine in a year's time, Quaglia is a flop you've already paid 4.5+ his wages 2 mln, you've spent 6.5 mln euros on a player that is only a 1/3 yours! We needed quality upfront considering how little we score and we did not get it with Quaglia. He'll come good, only because the other 3 are either injury prone, past their best, or downright impotent in front of goal & someone needs to score goals, right?

In total we spent 56.7 million euros on 12 players (and options worth another 30 million) which is not bad if quantity counts for anything, but Milan spent 18 and got Ibra, Robinho and Kevin Prince Boateng ALL quality signings. I only hope Marotta gets away with some of the gambles he made and there are quite a few.

Storari- One of the top rated keepers in Serie A last season. Was the price tag too expensive? Think about this. Buffon keeps getting injured, and if Storari was in goal instead of Chimenti, how far could they have gone in the Europa League last year?

Motta- Good going forward, not so good with his defensive responsibilites. Its a loan, with not too much invested, so we'll see what happens.

Bonucci- 2nd best signing of the summer, in my opinion. Juve needed another young defender back there, and he's going to be a very good one before his career is through.

Rinaudo- I have no clue. My father is a Napoli supporter and he didn't even know who he is. Need I say more?

Traore- for him to be remotely worth anything he will need to be the 2nd coming of Zambro on the offensive side of the pitch. Can't even catch a cold on defense, so I don't know how he's going to deal trying to keep up with Ronaldinho

Martinez- Unlike the majority of the people on this board, I really like this signing. Having ESPN 360 grants you the ability to watch multiple Serie A matches at one time, and the times I had seen him with catania, I was impressed. As a forward. NOT as a winger.

Pepe- High energy, High motor type of player. Everyteam could use one. On the bench. Not in the Starting XI

Krasic- A lot of people on this board seem to be impressed with him, although the little I've seen of him, I can't make an accurate judgment on him just yet. Showed a lot of spirit in the first 45 against Bari on Sunday. 3rd best signing of the summer behind this guy.................

Aquilani- Your typical high risk, high reward type of player. If he is healthy, he is easily the best midfielder on the team, and possibly the most creative player on the squad. Could be out for most of the year, where Juve could end up 7th again, or he could be healthy, and be a catalyst for a CL spot. I'm going to put my biased glasses on and side with the latter.

Lanzafame- Why not Giovinco, if that is the case? He might have a little more versatility than the atomic ant, but, I don't know. He also went to the Robert De Niro Taxi Driver school of hair design. Worst.Haircut.Ever.

Quagliarella- I'll settle for 16-17 workman like goals than 11 youtube quality goals, thank you very much.
