Moggi slammed Juve's transfer campaign -

he said it "resembles that of a provincial team"

Looks like a Siena campaign.
others called it mid table team, i called it; small time fc,
but the guru hit the nail on the head, thats exactly how our new management seems to thing.
Which is not quite a surprise considering the guys who hired for the job...

It was one fucked up mercato. But then again what did we expect anyway after last season and with so many aged over-payed players? The only mistakes were "getting rid" of Trezegoal and Diego without a proper replacement, and certainly wasting some loads of money on the likes of Martinez when we're in this shitty financial crisis is idiotic to say the least.

But then again, getting Bonucci, Motta, Krasic and Aqua are pretty well done pieces of business if you ask me and the same goes for bringing a back up keeper in Storari who was named the best GK in Serie A last season, those are all plus. Besides, apparently DN rejuvenated Amauri maybe the same could be done with other players we've ATM.

Im pretty sure we had a horrendous mercato but for some reason Im having this odd feeling we're gonna have a good season reaching all the objectives that were set.

Pessimists would say our only objective is to not fall apart like last year.
i see a scenario coming as such....

Del Neri will have this team in the situation Ferrara had it last season, but this time the club will not sack Del neri simply becasue alogn with Marotta, they have changed the team so much and sold quality players who suit all tactics bar Del Neri's, hence we are forced to keep this guy as coach as teh whole market would be a waste of time.

I think we had better players last season the problem is putting players out of position and a bad year didnt help
Take our team of last season add the right signings and we could have performed
I think its more of a psychological problem than ability
I remember the first 5 games we played great
Diego was class Melo was class but then something happened and the whole team sucked

Our team now consist of players who arent anywhere near top level such as Pepe Quagliarella and Matrinez
We had a quality player like Diego but ofcourse we need to decide if we want a team of champions or a team of mediocrity unfortunately Marotta decided that its easier to just get rid of Diego than get more players at his level

Before any judgment, I insist that this is only my point of view and my conclusion on JUVENTUS Market Campaign 2010/2011. You may have different ideas and I don’t want to impose my ideas here. I also aware of this fact that there are so many inside and detailed factors and issues that we are not aware of them in transfer market campaign. Thank you for reading, in advance!

* According to Andrea and Marotta, Juve’ transfer campaign goals were:
1. Starting new cycle and rebuilding team with young, fresh, quality and motivated players preferably Italians mix with few experienced ones.
2. Reducing team' age average.
3. Reducing team salary' average.
And of course, take advantage of rising opportunities in market, if they show up.

* And with Considering these:
1. The budget which Marotta had.
2. Del Neri’ technical view on 4-4-2 and importance of defense and wingers for him.
3. Players’ will and motivation to Join Juve.
4. Players’ clubs will to sell their players or doing business.
5. Other rich clubs activities in market like Man City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan and …
6. Juve is not in CL this year and this affected its budget and its strategies.
7. You can have only one non EU player.

* If you want to re-build a team and instantly getting results and you don’t have too much money for buying 11 new players permanently and you also want to be sure of their consistency, then it is a good idea to use Loan-with-option-to-buy strategy. I agree with Moggi that Juve usually needs 2 or 3 superstars every summer with small fixing, but not for this summer! For next year, we must go with this formula. But this year we were at end of a long and not working cycle and we do needed quantity too!

Rating Transfers one by one:
(My Criteria: Player’ Quality, Player’ Future, Player’ Motivation, Price of Transfer and Alternatives)

IN's:
1. Leonardo Bonnuci: One of best transfers all these years after Moggi' era. Great quality, young and Italian, remind me of Nesta after joining Milan from Lazio, price is good – small expensive, very motivated and not so much better alternatives. 8.5/10!

2. Marco Motta: I think for RB, we needed more quality than Motta. He is young and many see him as a very promising talent but I am not still sure of it. When Roma doesn’t want to pay 2m for keeping him, it means something is wrong. I think we could have found better alternatives, also Italians. 6/10!

3. Simone Pepe: I like this guy. I really think he will do much better of what we all think right now. He has good attitude for winning. His transfer was very cheap. He is Italian, young and a real fighter to end! He will surprise all of us. 8/10!

4. Milos Krasic: Another great signing by Marotta! I am sure most people here wanted him at Juve. His will and sacrifice to join Juve was great and very rare these days. Price is good, although if Man City didn’t intervene we would have got him cheaper and sooner! Everybody knows about his quality and I think he has Juve’ material with him! He just needs some time to adjust himself with Calcio! 9/10!

5. Alberto Aquilani: I think best CM in Europe, who has really Juve material inside is Bastian Schweinsteiger, but we didn’t have money for that and Bayern also won’t sell easily, but I remember two years ago, everybody -Myself included- wanted him at Juve for around 22m! But now we have him on loan and if he will be real Aquilani with consistency, then we can have him at 10.5m! I think he is also very motivated, quality is guarantee if he doesn’t get injured and price also was good, he knows Calico and in general, I give this transfer 8/10!

6. Marco Storari: I think we didn’t need him! Price -5.5m- is too much for reserve goalkeeper in his age. I was OK with Manninger for 3.5 months before Buffon’s comeback after Christmas like same scenario happened 2 seasons ago. I think we should have got young new goalkeeper for future after Manninger leaves next summer. 4/10!

7. Fabio Quagliarella: Like all of you, I was waiting for a great striker all summer. My choices were first Pazzini and second Dzeko. But as we know, Sampdoria and Wolsfburg didn’t want to sell them at all costs and I think paying more than 40m for Dzeko is too expensive. I am optimistic that Pazzini ends up in Juve next summer and Dzeko will join Bayern. If you consider these, I think Quagliarella is good alternative after these two. I am happy that Di Natale didn’t accept our proposal and I rate Quagliarella more than some like De Foe or Huntelaar or Boriello or Adebayor for Juventus. I am sure we will see some very beautiful goals this season by him. 7.5/10!

8. Armand Traore: For LB, my first choice was Kolarov and then Cristico and then Zapata. It was obvious that in last week of transfer market after Krasic’ transfer, we didn’t have cash for buying more layers. I also preferred Ziegler from Samp instead of him but I am happy not to see Kaladze here! Man City snapped Kolarov and they paid 19m! We didn’t have chance with that price and also with Lotilo. I think Del Neri believes in De Ceglie and I am optimistic that he will deliver this season. Also I have faith in Wenger; he usually doesn’t choose low quality players. 6/10!

9. Rinaudo: This is another Marotta’ mistake. He moved very late for covering this role. Although he is not too bad for 4th role in CB after Chiellini, Bonucci and Legro! He is young, worked with Del Neri before but price is not very good and he is not Juve’ bound. Remember! Burdisso and Mexes said No to us! Although, it was small time to search for better alternatives but they were there! 5/10!

10. Davide Lanzafame: If he plays like how he did in second part of last season with Parma, then it will be a great signing! His is coming from Juve’ youth system and he knows the club. He is a fighter. Better to have him than give him to Parma and he do again what he did last season against us! He also didn’t cost too much. My first choice for this role was D’Agostino like last year, but he went to Fiorentina in first week of transfer market and he didn’t wait for Juve this summer. Anyway, 7/10!

11. Martinez: This transfer includes one of Marotta’ mistakes. 12m was really too much for him! I think, if we have waited more, we could have buy him cheaper! He is a good player for covering Krasic in RM. He is young and he also can play in attack if needed and I think we couldn’t find better alternative for covering role. The only problem in this transfer was the price and he is not worse than other alternatives. 7/10!

OUT's:
1. Sebastian Giovinco: No comment! We should have kept him! Everybody knows why!

2. Diego: I think he deserved another chance, but he is not a striker in 4-4-2 and we all know it. Del Neri wanted to use him as a striker and it was not a good idea. It was very sad seeing Diego leaving Juve after just one season and also after his great pre-season. He has a very attractive character but it was only chance for Marotta to find some cash. Right now, I am more believed that Brazilians like him won’t fit in Juve’ type of football easily. Juve needs fighters like Nedved, Conte, Davids, Deschamps and Tachinardi. It was a sad divorce because of lack of solution.

3. David Trezeguet: Sooner or later, this time would have come. He is a Juve’ legend and he will be greatly missed for sure! He also couldn’t accept sitting on the bench in this moment of his career! This was also better for him to leave this summer, instead of next!

4. Christian Poulsen: It was good business with Liverpool. He was not Juve’ type and didn’t deliver here and it wasn’t any hope or sign that he will do it this season. It was Ranieri’ mistake to bring him here instead of Alonso 2 summer ago!

5. Mauro Camoranesi: For him also it was end of cycle, he lacked motivation and rhythm last season and recently he got injured more and more. We needed new and fresh blood in right side of midfield. He is part of Juve’ history and he also will be remembered!

6. Johnatan Zebina: Oh! Finally! I always asked myself last 5 seasons why the hell Moggi bought him at all? Only good for Juve in serie B! Finally his never ending injuries serial and his big mistakes has finished! I am not sure he made more than 10 good games in Juve’ jersey! He was injured when he was needed.

Negative Points of transfer market:

1. Failing to offload Fabio Grosso and Hasan Salihamidzic in right time!
2. Offloading Givinco! I think all other sells was in right time and reasonable.
3. Marotta’ late moves for LB and 4th CB!
4. Not keeping Cristico!
5. Wasted too much time on Dzeko and didn’t go for Pazzini.

My Conclusion:
After disastrous return Milan’ match, last season, I remember here everybody was asking for complete revolution in the club and in the team and re-building needs changing many elements! Don’t forget that it is easier to buy 3 superstars and spend all you money on 3 famous players but with our last season situation and results, Marotta and co. went on harder way to rebuild the team with money and goals which they had with good use of loan-and-option-to buy technique. Now Juve is much younger, more Italian, the pay less than before, they have alternative to buy some these players if they show their value and coach has two choices for each position. Now we have the base for 3-4 more years. First, I gave Marotta 6 but after so many considerations, right now I think he deserves to judge more fairly and I will give him 7.5/10!

My Prediction:
With 3 IF’s, I think we can easily finish top 4 and aiming for winning Coppa and Euro League with little luck and with 3 or 4 top players, we can go for Scudetto next year. This Juve will surprise you.

IF 1: If Del Neri finds his first 11 choices sooner and plays with them for some period of time so we find the base of this team for new cycle.
IF 2: If we won’t have too many injuries like last 3-4 years. With new medic team, I hope this happens.
IF 3: If some of our players re-find their old consistent rhythms like Marchisio, Melo and Amauri.

Forza Juventus per Sempre! :bigscarf:

If you have reached here, thank you again for your reading and patience!

I know you are gonna say CL money but in reality it will cost around 35-40m for a world class SS and ST.

Then we will have to deal with the RB/LB issue and also people will be crying out for a new LW to replace Martinez or possibly a CM to replace Sissoko or Aquilani.

If we would of added Cassano instead of Quag this year it would made next years Mercato alot easier unless we have no intention of going after Cassano and see Quag as a starter.

Pace is one of the few things this Juve team does have.

Unfortunately, the speed of thought is so slow that the player often do not appear fast.

I wish we had players with pace in our team, its been a while since I seen genuine pace at Juventus
Like Red says, pace is ok if you players who have it also have a brain, otherwise we might as well fill our team with Olympic category sprinters.

Krasic is lightning fast. Pepe, Lanzafame and Motta have considerable pace. Quagliarella and De Ceglie are also not slow.
