The thing I hated the most about this mercato is the lack of planning and a worst strategy. Beppe should make his mind from the beginning about his targets and whether the players we have are good enough or not. If he think Bonnucci is good enough then put the faith in him from the beginning till the end and thats that. Instead he crushes his confidence by the last week of the window and ends up keeping him to start in a week's time. We had the same issue with Ziegler (although with a lesser extent as hes not a starter).

Overall we brought in a few quality players to improve the quality. The others like Giacherrini and Estigarriba have been brought for cover and specific roles not to make a difference.

I think a lot of our success will depend on Conte's abilities to stimulate this large squad for the whole season. We have moody players (Elia and Vuci), players with little confidence (Bonnuci and Ziegler) so he has his work cut out.

The last point is about the deadwood. Can't they just fuck off!

Overall Market - 8/10
Marotta - 4.5/10

In the end, we managed to buy 5-6 upgrades/starters. That's a huge boost. Some say we upgraded the wrong areas, mainly claiming our offense/mid was ok.

Sorry but that's bs. The 2nd half of the season, we were devoid of ideas, of character, of intensity, creativity, adventure.... going forward. This falls on the front 6 who got found out badly once Krasic tired.

This season, we'll have a wide range of attacking options which perfectly suits our manager's intent. We can also switch from a creative based midfield (Pirlo) to a pure ball-hunting version.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a CB but only Rudolfo's a real miss at this stage. Lugano, Alex, Alvez are all 30yo's with issues. Hardly WC potential for 4m/pa. At least in 15 games time, we can re-inforce if need be.

Overall, the squad is in accordance mostly with Conte's wishes and good enough for 2nd/3rd if he performs.

Lol wtf does that mean? If it was a 8/10 market, Marotta would have got higher than 4/5:lol: surely, world class signings are world class signings, regardless of who signgs them. This isn't the case though, probably because that's shit:tup:

I say that I won't vote based on the fact that they have yet to play a competitive match. See me in mid season, and then I'll grade.

People thought the Storari transfer last year was stupid, and how did that turn out?

Conversely, a lot of people, myself included, thought the Aquilani deal had the potential to be a masterstroke, and it didn't quite turn out that way.

Like I said, see me in mid-season.
And Quagliarella was a bad one, Amauri and Motta were good ones, indifference with the rest. It remains, they are only as good as the season they have.

7.5/10

We have vastly improved our squad upon last year's one, although there are the obvious improvements that could have been made. Personally, I would have:

- Done my utmost to sell Amauri who will affect the wage budget as well as team harmony
- Sold Grosso (if possible)
- Sold Toni (if possible)
- Sold Barzagli
- Not signed Giaccherini
- Bought a continental-class LB, rather than going for the bargain in Ziegler
- Concentrated on buying a world-class CB to partner Chiellini (and have Bonucci as a sub)

In saying that, I think we can crack the top 4 this coming season, which is a testament to the players we've acquired.

Why should he? Pirlo, Licht, Vuci kind of fell into his lap. Conte stopped him from average fixes like Vargas/Bastos or breaking the bank on Pastore. He didn't achieve the difficult task of a quality CB or a Licht standard LB.

Deep down you love this mercato.
Not really.

I rate Vidal and Vucinic pretty high but that's about it. I never liked Lich while I think he is an improvement for sure. When it comes to Elia he didn't even show much so far, we only bought potential and I expected a much better winger to come. We also spent too much on those loans and got stuck with Pepe and others, we blew over 40mln on those pretty much decent players. I wanted us bad to get rid of Bonucci since I think he's mediocre and he'll never make a good partnership with Chiellini. Also, I think our left side is way too weak, behind Elia there's a mediocre Ziegler (or even De Ceglie). Both are  and we didn't even improve that side. And on the other side, we couldn't sell players and I'm mostly pointing out at Melo, that was just laughable. Pirlo is great but having him in 4-4-2 with Vidal is not so great I think. We made a huge mistake when we didn't pick 4-3-3 to be our formation.

We did bring some good players but there's no way I love it. Marotta is mediocre, of course he can't make moves that I'd love really so I don't know where you got that from.

From a pretty decent start and everything it went down to meh.

Lots of similarities between this Juve and Inter from the 90's.

And Inter were the laughing stock of all over Europe back then. Bit sad really that we've got that low.

Inter used to pay world record transfer fees and wages for big name players and coaches and still fail.
Check how much Juve spent in the last 5 years, its shocking really.

Perhaps we didn't sign many indiviual players for world record fees but we've wasted lots and lots of money on players that we've sold and tried to loan out the very next season. We keep signing 6-7 players every season and ship them out in a year or two.

hiring and firing coaches every season, we're pretty much in the same track that they were in.

I see no difference.

Difficult. I was undecided between 6 and 7, but opted to give this mercato a 7. I'm disappointed that we didn't bring in a quality CB, but a mercato that saw us landing Pirlo, Lichtsteiner, Vidal and Vucinic deserves some praise. Also, players such as Giaccherini, Elia and hopefully Ziegler and Estigarribia will prove useful, I think.

I've tried to picture us NOT getting the likes of Pirlo, Licht, Vidal and Vucinic summer. What if these players had ended up elsewhere? Vidal at Bayern, Pirlo staying at Milan or off to Napoli or something. Vucinic staying at Roma or signing for Napoli, Inter etc. Well I wouldn't like it one bit.

As for the left winger, were there any better wingers than Elia out there? I said all summer that I wanted Nani and Ribery, but that was unrealistic. I really hate Vargas... and Bastos, although he has a powerful shot, doesn't have as good a first touch as Elia has. Plus Elia is faster, and Bastos can't develop any further, which I think Elia on the other hand can do.

Anyway, 7 is also a lucky number :D

Or so I've heard.

Forza Juve!

I did state the difference but I agree with your other points, we are signing too many players, and of a similar level.

If we bought the players that Inter did in that period we could probably have Micky Mouse as coach and win the league by 10 points, the league is much weaker now.
