are poor people also obliged to fast? I mean, when you haven't got alot of food, it's harder to wait till the evening, knowing that there will not be a big food-fest then?
Yes poor people are obliged to fast. Its obligatory on every muslim but there are some exceptions for those who are ill.

I dont think it actually matter much for a poor person regarding the food content. I mean its not exactly like he has much food anyway. Ramadan isnt exactly about having a big food fest at the end of your fasting day. Nevertheless every muslim is encouraged to give money to poor people in this month and majority of muslims do give a lot of charity in this month. Hence the poor actually benefit more than they normally would on a normal month, both spirtitually and financially.

Also, unfortunatly most over here are focusing on the eating on the drinking, and actually missing the whole essence of fasting ramadhan.

Ramadhan was never about only food and drinking, its about self-rightness, elevating oneself from earthly desires, giving back to the community.

One who doesnt conduct himself in an islamic manner in Ramadan i.e lying, stealing, mischievious...etc should just better not stop eating and drinking.....

Indeed. Like some people, as we say in Arabic "mrab7een Allah jmeela" keef saymeen.

It's like nobody's forcing you too. One must have the willingness, the intentions to do it and discipline themselves.

It depends on a person's character, their ways of dealing with stress, and how much a person may "khaaf Allah" [fear God] etc.

Ramadan kareem to all fellow muslims ...

yes we have a 2 week holiday at the end of Ramadhan in Saudi Arabia...

IMO ... Fasting is all about discipline, if one can't hold himself of doing bad deeds (lying, cursing, gossiping ... etc.) he shouldn't be fasting in the first place ...

also, people do good deeds as much as they can, as a result the society will live in much harmony and solidity ...

When people fast they just prove that they can be good, so after Ramadhan ends they have no excuse of not being good ...
