I can see reason #1 and #3.

#2 I don't get. I don't mean for this to sound derogatory but don't a lot of Muslims live in poor countries? Like Sudan. Fasting is pretty much an every-day thing for them, and not by choice.
Yes,for some of ppl, life is like an endless fast.fasting is supposed to be a reason to make muslims pay attention to such ppl.when you consider how hard is fasting, you'll understand the hardship of poor ppl's life.

But this 2nd reason is pointless for me as well.Muslims are fasting in Ramadhan.they avoid eatin and drinking.but they KNOW after about 12-13 hours they will break their fast, they will eat and they will drink what they want.I mean after 12-13 hours thinking to poor ppl will be ended suddenly and I tell you,I bet none of the ppl who fast, are thinking to the poor ppl during this time.they're just looking forward to the Iftar :D

by experiencing hunger n thirst, it gets us the feeling that the poors experienced everyday..
it gives us a thankful feeling for God for being luckier than them. Of course that's not the end of story. Our thankful feeling should be applied by helping others.. by then, our fast would be meaningful..

and plus, when we fast, we have to control anger desire too.. If we angry, then it would be meaningless..
I actually have lots of problems with this sentence.why should I thank God when I see a poor person who has a sad life?you know, for each case, there is always a worse case.if you have a miserable life, for sure, there IS another one who lives in a worse situation.so EVERY ONE should thank God?!
I don't mean we should complain if we have problems, but I think thanking God after considering the others' worse life is nonsense.

Do you fast, Hoori?

Happy Ramadhan by the way to all muslims.
I don't recognize myself a Muslim,so I don't fast.but I've experienced it and I have to admit that I like it.fasting would be such a nice must in Islam IMO if it doesn't change to an addict without thinking to the reasons and meanings of it.

Sorry, maybe it's a bit confusing cos I found it hard too to find the exact words..
what I actually mean, when u see other ppls suffer, and u have a better situation, u should help them and thank God that u can help them. Cos if u were in their position too, u can't help them much either.
I said, when u thank God, then u should help them, bcos u also feel sorry for them..
But, IMO, yes, EVERYONE should thank God even in the worst situations..
*Maybe I'll explain it to u tomorrow, gotta go to sleep.. Sorry for my bad English*

Rami, all my life I've been told that it's not permitted, this is the first time I hear this. Got any source?
Look up surrat Al-Baqara in the Quran...somewhere around the verse 180, the verses talking about ramadhan...

and of course there are Hadiths

I don't mind not eating or drinking, and it;s not like Im a pathological liar...so that's not much of an issue.

But cursing on impulse. Like when driving, I just can't help it, usually I'm just about to curse, or I cut in the middle........such as "ya akhoul..." (Lebanese curse word meaning brother of....[enter derogatory adjective])....think you've got the point. One can always say AstaghfarAllah...a common word use by Muslims which pleads forgiveness from God.

I dunno if it breaks the fast, but I've heard Sheikhs say it's all part of the intentions of Ramadan to avoid using bad language.

I think I'll take the bus home. :D
