And 2 La Liga trophies with Valencia before joining Liverpool, may I add. So the theory that he's not a championship coach, good in long championships that require consistency doesn't really hold water.
He just couldn't fight against a billions-spending Chelsea and Ferguson's Manchester.
My personal opinion is that most, if not all, the other coaches would have struggled just as much to beat Chelsea and Manchester in EPL if they were coaching Liverpool.
Kinda like Inter in the 17 years before Calciopoli. Milan, Inter and Juve changed many coaches in these years. Milan's and Juve's coaches were winning while Inter's coaches (big names included) weren't winning. And some of these coaches were coaching both Inter and Juve/Milan, winning with the latter and not winning with Inter.

Whether his champions league, with far from a glorious liverpool side was lucky, as I suggest, or not, is besides the point.
My point is this...
would any of you be happy with him spending, a net figure, after sales are taken into account, of 109m sterlings, and having one champions league title and one half decent challenge for the scudetto, to show for it???
That isn't my normal personal angst shining through...its logic. Factual....
From the above FACTS alone, can you seriously not see why he is not at all regarded, in ENGLAND, where he has worked for the last 6 years, as one of the most valuable coaches...
the ONLY possible reason why we could even get him, is that the owners of liverpool are businessman, who want to win, not lose...so what the fuck does that say about john elkann's business acumen???

Sort of, but I would like the Italian version of it, the version that we used to perform to perfection. Direct play, a clearly gameplan, fight, movement. 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 - as wingers is what matters. Crosses from the defence or midfield is not what I want, as we saw a lot of, under Capello. The way Bayern is playing, but with better technical players, is what I like.

For me the key issues are here:
- At what point did Liverpool have a team goood enough for the championship ?
- Man utd have spent the same amount, but started from a better place
- The team he took over from Houllier was horrible.
- Abramovich
I have highlighted his biggest problem. Namely the freakin 49 transfers in 6 years. Cut that in half with the same budget, fill in with youth if you need. That is my biggest concern. That is what we should make sure not happen in juve.

Competing in the EPL with a team like Liverpool is, or should be, a harder thing to do than compete in Serie A with Juventus. Especially, like you said Jasp, with people like Abramovich taking over the competition and United simply the better team.

This club (Ecxelsior Moucron) had been having financial problems for many years now. In the previous seasons, they always managed to work things out in the end, thus receiving their license.
The past season however turned out to be different. Their financial problems became worse every month & they should have never been given a license to start this season, yet they were awarded one, under strict conditions. Those strict conditions weren't met, so the license was revoked.
Everyone saw it coming for a long time. Yet, much to my surprise, in the summer a bunch of well known people (including Carboni) arrived at the club. Always seemed fishy to me why guys such as him would go to a foreign club that is in deep shit. Especially since there was pretty much no hope at all for new investments. I still can't figure out the reasons behind their arrival.
And the talk about being simply lucky to win in 2005 is completely nullified with the fact that he made the final in 2007 and the semifinal in 2008.
You simply can't be so lucky to make the CL semifinals 3 times in 4 years.

4-2-3-1 is the way, as its so easy to transform it to a 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-2-1 and to win in modern football, you need that!.
