how do you pronounce "Bronkhorst"..?? I was irritated with the way the commentator pronounced his name last night..?
As far as I know, in Brazilian Portugese, an R at the start of the word is pronounced like an H.
So it would be Hon-aldou etc.
Not sure about Continental Portugese though, I think it's probably the same.

You're spot on about Brazilian Portuguese (Recife as "He-SEE-feh", e.g.). But continental Portuguese pronounces the "r" like, well, an "r". Or more shrill, actually, such as "R-r-r-on AHL d(u)". (I put the last 'u' in parentheses since many continental Portuguese shorten and whisper a trailing "o" so much that it is almost inaudible.)
