Liverpool have really struggled to score goals though, so blaming it all on their defenders’ injuries doesn’t cut it.
Just to illustrate that point, when Liverpool were flying high, they had scored 37 goals in the first 14 games, and were first in the table. In the last 11 games, they’ve scored 9 goals, and have dropped to 6th.
Their defensive record has been fairly uniform throughout the season- they conceded 19 in their first 14, and 15 in their last 11. Their 7-2 defeat against Villa came when Van Dijk and Gomez were still fit.
