League form and CL form are two different things and in a way requires different type of football as we've learnt. Real showed classic examples of that in the past. Other than injuries, part of the problem is that they were underpressure to win. CL felt like a clean start for the players especially from a psychological level, only a few clubs can knock them out and theres probably only 4-5 clubs who is say can or have a chance in beating them.
