Mourinho has never been what he never was.
I honestly think he needed to go back to his origins, back to his original form. The Mourinho of now depends on pornographic budgets and is buying stars (even because a team of the size of those he now trains wants is to go get 100M stars for marketing reasons). The Mourinho back then made a winner of European competitions with players from lower leagues and illustrious strangers, he put Leiria to fight for the first places with banal players, and he was doing with Benfica what he eventually did with Porto.
I know football has changed and these new generations of players are more concerned about Instagram photos, poses and other shit ... but Mourinho has lost its original genesis.
The people around me always said and applauded every time Mourinho gave the jump to a bigger club, I already thought he was losing his magic and that was a mistake (even because money he already had a lot). What greater challenge is there than rigging teams with budgets 30000 times greater using illustrious strangers ?! I know life is not CM / FM, but I would rather see Mourinho pick up low / medium level teams and make them huge than pick up on someone already big.
True that losing some of the elements of his technical team also affected but I believe Mourinho's own base principles have changed.
If it was a few years ago Mourinho-psychologist had already turned around the head of Pogba and made him a great player, now it's more like "fuck it..."
Mourinho has also won everything there was to win, for him one more Champions one less Champions is the same shit, he is already immortalized as one of the best coaches ever. Now he is gathering pensions to have a quiet life and leave something for the descendants. I do not believe that "old" Mourinho comes back because he had a fiber that gets lost with age, the "hunger to win" is no longer the same.
