Because those words sound cool, and I dont really want to learn german. Its a language that'll only be useful when I go to the Netherlands or some caribbean islands - I want to learn a non major language...

but, is it as hard as german? because I've been told that german is very hard to learn...

Oh no, it's by far not as hard as German. It used to be but after WWII, some drastic changes were made in our language (it was a national obsession to distance ourselves as far from the Germans as possible) and those changes, followed by some more abolishing of old rules a couple of years ago resulted in a fairly easy language to learn for foreigners.
