Agreed, for me 11s is way more fun than 5s. I love 5s, but playing a position properly for 90 minutes is the real deal. You get an opposite number and it becomes a duel, while factoring in the rest of your teammates and opponents.

Played my first game of 5s in a couple of weeks tonight. Ended up playing for nearly 2 hours. Dead close game.

    Goddam I love playing football

    I normally play 5 a sides twice a week and 7 a side once a week.

When I play 5 a side, I like to stay a bit deeper and build from the back. In 7 a sides I tend to play as striker or in the middle, however I've slotted in at centre back on a regular basis when needed.

I do that as well when playing 5s. I don't have a great skillset for attacking so I tend to sit back as I would in 11s. The problem is that you can't really do that in 5s, so I try to focus on dragging defenders out of position to create space when my team is attacking.

I have no more lungs. I was never a fantastic player, but my greatest asset was that I had a madman's endurance, I usually scored late in games, always running up and down the pitch, now I can't even last 2 minutes. :sigh::claire:

This. I was always a RB/LB then later a sort of holding mid. I can pass though which is positive, shooting isn't bad. I started playing 5 a side indoor again. It Pisses people off on the other team that that I hold the ball up, which is great. But yeah defending is my strong point. Last man back then I create from there.

My main asset is being able to.read the play. A friend of mine put it this way- I'd be one of his first picks for an 11s game but one of the last for 5s. Why? Because I'm not well-rounded enough to be a great 5s player. In fact in my group of friends who play football we're all at roughly the same level but good at different things. I guess I'm just more specialised :D

How are you finding 5s fitness wise?

I feel you, man. Injuries suck. And knowing that if you play through it you might antagonise the injury somehow makes it suck harder... Is it a team you play for? What position do you play?

I've got asthma and usually I need to slow down after the initial 5 minute rush. After that though it doesn't bother me for the rest of the game. Wierd.

Playing outside and it being June and still pretty cold up here probably doesn't help either

For 5 and 7 a side i'm great cause I like to think i'm quite well rounded, i'm decent in the air, strong, have a great shot, composed when one on one. My main weakness would be speed, but i've got a footballing brain and can outwit other players.

5 a side I like to play further back cause up front you very rarely have time on the ball, and I like started the play by spreading it to the wings, making a forward run and more often than not blasting it in to the back of the net.

Touch wood, I haven't suffered from too many injuries, 'only' broke my leg once in a 5 a side and slightly pulled my ankle ligaments twice in a 'career' that has been over 15 years

Yeah, I'm at the point where I could put on my knee thingy and be able to play the game 80% but after that I would be out again for two weeks minimum. But this week we have two very important games and it sucks that I will most likely be missing both of them :(

I play regular football with 11 people in sunday league, and from this year our team is playing in third tier league in our country.

I used to play in attacking left position when I was younger, but now I'm center mid. My main assests are reading the game, work rate, keeping possesion and making things dangerous on the counter ( I would say I'm at best then.)

And I play 7vs7 too. I play center mid there too, because I cover a lot of ground and can control the game from there.

One of my many problems is that when I get pressured with the ball I shit it, I put in decent crosses and im quicker than the average shutcunt,
also my shooting is ass, very ass
