I don't know how much you already know.
He's stable and not in life danger. He had to get another surgery tonight and (as far as I know) it went fine.
Tomorrow he'll go through a third one (for something minor as foot and leg) and they'll check if the fall has damaged his spine, although it seems not: he could move his legs when he arrived at the hospital (he was conscious and complaining for how much it hurt) and they did a quick check up on it, tommorow they'll do an accurate one.
For now he's in a drug induced coma (not to make him feel the pain) and the next official statement by the doctors will be at 10 am (Italian time).
As for how it happened, the police seem to think it was a suicide attemp. It seems that Gianluca (or Pessottino, like they call him in the locker room) was depressed and they say he even had a doctor appointment for this today.
According to Repubblica (as you already wrote) he had a rosary in his hands (quite a contradiction, if you ask me), but according to the police he hasn't left any note.
But who knows how much of this is true. After all at 3pm every journalist was *sure* he had jumped beacuse he was doping-ill (no, it's not a bad translation, it's what they actually said). Of course we later discovered that it absolutely wasn't the case (not that it took a genius: would a sick person continue to train or play games? Would he have been given a manager position in such a delicate time if he was sick?). Then we heard it was because his wife wanted to leave him, but she denied it and said her husband was worried about his new job. But would a man decide to kill himself when he could simply quit? Or not accept it at all?
Anyway, I feel it's not important why or how, just that it could have been much worse. I thank whoever is up there, because the fact that he's making it (not to mention that he was still conscious after a 15m fall), is some kind of a miracle.
This afternoon, after I heard, I felt like I couldn't breathe, but it still hasn't sinked in that it was *Pessotto*, you know? I mean it's not like you can expect someone to do anything like this, but Luca?
