Higuain and Dybala are in different situations. With Higuain you could probably question his weight and effort. And possibly attribute that to his struggles. Although for me, it's still a tenuous connection.

With Dybala, I don't think we can question his effort. So I don't know how benching him for 2 days will make him better. Will he try even harder?

The problem is he is not good enough technically to perform consistently. For example, every situation where his first touch should be with the right, he takes it with the left. So you could say maybe his success rate goes from 95% to only 10% with his left. Now some games he pulls it off time after time but eventually the poor fundamentals catch up to him and he will look bad.

He is not really made out to play as a CAM so he will go through stretches where his technique and decision making lets him down. I mean, has he ever been a player that passes when he should shoot? No. He always shoots. We knew that when we bought him. So he will inevitably go through a run of games every season where he will press the issue and sky balls from 30 yards when he should look to pass.

For example, he will receive a pass 35 yards from goal and there could be some combination with Higuain that he can play that is easier to complete. He could do that and no one would have a problem with him. But usually, and almost always, he will opt for a very, very difficult shot. Now at the beginning of the season it goes in the net and he is Messi. But it's an unsustainable play style. So these patches are inevitable. How does benching him fix it? I don't know. He hasn't changed the way he plays for almost 3 years now.

My opinion won’t ever change that he should be much closer to the goal. He isn’t a maestro, he’s not built to be a classic 10. He can’t beat anyone on a basic run because he can’t properly control it without the ball moving 3 miles ahead of him. It’s like giving him the #10 has put the kind of pressure where he has to be the playmaker that does everything, drops deep and creates all forward plays.

IMO he really isn’t that. When I look at Dybala I see a less talented Romário. He’s good at close quarter dribbling and when closer to the goal hes got a good eye for hitting that spot on the right side of the keeper. I still think he would flourish and really reach his potential if he had an intelligent creative playmaker behind him.

This is basically what he is. So much of top level football is your instinct. If your instinct is to make a tight dribble and aim for the top corner, what can you do to change it? His instinct isn't to pass. If you ask him to do that, he will probably make slower decisions and struggle.

But Dybala's instinct in the box is at the highest level, that must be said. So I agree with you completely. For a more recent comparison, I still see a lot of David Villa in him.

You quoting Allegri now :howler:
Yes, quoting Allegri. Find me one fucking person on this planet that knows current Higuain better than him? Certainly not you.

“I made a choice. Higuain was in less good shape compared to the others, but already tonight he was moving his legs quicker and had the right determination.

“There are players who prove that, those who remained from the first Scudetto. Gonzalo mustn’t rest on his laurels. He must have the grit and ambition to fight it out with all the best in the world and he has what it takes to do that. As he is an important player, it’s up to him to do it and not be complacent.

“Higuain is playing tomorrow. The other day he came on against Olympiakos with a different attitude, but that’s the attitude he must have throughout the season and in every match.

“Gonzalo has to be more decisive,” Allegri told Tuttosport.

“No matter whether he gets 25 or 30 goals, the important thing is that they’re decisive goals. He’s better physically, he’s worked over the international break, but he’s still not at 100 per cent.

“Higuain is an extraordinary player, I get angry with him a lot because I demand more, because he can do much more.

“So far he’s done 50 per cent of what he could do.”

The proof is in the pudding, Kyle. The coach that sees him everyday, that you apparently support via your signature but are too stubborn to admit he was right in his analysis and treatment of Higuain during that rough patch was spot on every single time. Argentina dropped him, but you conveniently neglect that interesting tidbit of information in your argument. Max even admits that he worked hard during the one international break and that's the jump in intensity we saw.

I'll leave you with another interview from someone that knows a shit ton more than you ever will:

Ravanelli: 'Higuain a burden for Juve’
By Football Italia staff

Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli slams Gonzalo Higuain - “I’d leave him out against Torino”.

Pipita has been criticised for his form so far this season, culminating in a disastrous showing against Fiorentina last night.

“He’s really confused, he looks like a shadow of the Higuain we know,” Ravanelli said on Radio Sportiva.

“Allegri continuing to play him right now doesn’t help him, because he needs tranquility. His problem is more mental than physical.

“I think being left out of the national team hurt him, he should rest, above all his head. He should take a week’s holiday and then come back.

He’s frustrated, he’s out of the game, he’s always trying to force it and he won’t help the team like that.

I’d leave him out for the derby. I think he’s currently a burden for Juve, aside from the goals he’s scored he hasn’t been the Gonzalo we know.

“He scored an important goal in the derby last year, but from then on his performances have been disastrous.

“He needs to get back to being an important player, and this criticism than he can’t do it in important matches will certainly have hurt him: he’s struggling to score in the Champions League.

“All of this talk certainly won’t help him, but we know he’s a superstar, a top player, because Juve paid €90m for him.

Unfortunately he’s not in condition to play right now.”

It really is impossible to dumb it down for you anymore than that, Kyle. Again, if you can't at the very minimum intellectually understand where those two (Max & Ravanelli) are coming from in their criticism at the time then it will be impossible for you to comprehend from a football perspective.

I’ll take my mental gymnastics to your mental incapacity. :agree:

Gymnastics isn’t easy. Judging by your argument you probably wouldn’t know that either.

Cant wait until whatever country your from fails to qualify, and has to root for their country in some other low testosterone $hit-sport like curling or golf
Bro if Somalia was able to at least manage to be a country I'd never root for anyone. And Canada sucks at football, Canada's women>>>>canada men team.

I used to sympathize, no I loved Argentina and then they snubbed the player of the people El fuerte apache and for that I wish them consecutive finals lost until messi retires. May they suffer the greatest trashing in a final that has ever happened ever.

Also why you trying to sully this proud doge by making it wear argie flag

Messi might make it to 2022, I hope he does and loses a third WC final

Well, you got the worlds most vicious pirates, i guess thats kinda cool.

Tevez fell out with the manager, and it was really stupid considering his form. Having said that, he is from one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires and a real street guy. Not the easiest guy to manage.

Nowadays its just a question if they can make the team play together and not solely really on Messi to rescue them. That tactic is way too predictable and too easy to defend against for a quality oponent.

Dybala: 'This is the nicest jersey of them all', but it is not the Juve jersey...
08 November at 09:00

Paulo Dybala isn't having a great moment right now as he is struggling.:lol::lol::lol: He started off the year on a high but Juventus are now waiting for him to return to these levels.

There seems to be a little bit of tension between Dybala and Juve as there have been a few small situations that have occured over the past few weeks. Dybala had this so say about Argentina's jersey: "This one is the nicest jersey of them all...". This will certainly irritate a few Juve fans as they have given him Del Piero's and Platini's number 10 bianconeri jersey. You can view his message bellow, right here on Calciomercato.com.
