To be honest it would be difficult to get around testing with testosterone and steroids for the simple reason a football season is so long. Other athletes might get around testing by doing short treatments in the off season, but the off season is just too short for that in football.
The thing is he is probably on medications due to his re-occuring injury. The question is what happens should it be connected with his pains. Is there any sort of consideration or not?

Of course athletes can take medication under certain circumstances, but the medication would have to be prescribed by a doctor and the anti-doping agencies need to be informed of that medication. You can get an exemption for corticosteroids though so maybe it's not impossible.
