Because we wouldn't have an experienced tempo controlling midfielder. A 'maestro', so to speak.

After we took CR7 there was no way Real would allow Modric to leave. Bentacur is promising, but needs another 2-3 seasons to be that (if he could be).

Pogba would replace our starting B2B (now Bentacur) mids, perhaps he can displace Matuidi too (if he shows his previous workrate). It would make us too reliable on BonBon, not to mention he would forget all about being a defender again.
