I think we're at Madrid's level if not a superior club at the minute. Outside of Bayern and Barca, we're as good as anyone.
Yeah.. keep the wishful thinking. Meanwhile:

In terms of prestige we are nowhere near Madrid today. That is sad, but it is what it is.
Exactly. Real Madrid is arguably the most prestigious club in the World. Juve isn't a contender to that title currently and haven't been since the late 90s.

Even then, Madrid was on par. They don't even have to win anything, they still would be one of top few prestige clubs in the world.

We on the other hand, would have to win 3 CL in a row to be considered on the same level with them. That's messed up.

Hmm.. I'm guessing that does not buy you a Messi. I hope City are content with the 3rd place finish he can offer without his main man.
160 mil doesnt even buy his shoes

160 million?

Well, if they want to spend that all on Pogba, then that is their perogative
Pogba isnt going to go to fucking manchester city

he wants to win in europe, so he'll reject any EPL side

Surely with an unlimited budget at City he is going to look at the man who gave him everything, the man without whom he'd be nothing as a manager: Messi.

Am I right, @Fred?
Wait, aren't you one of the people who don't think Messi is on another planet to Cristiano Ronaldo? You think the two players are close in terms of their influence on the team. Yet, you give managers like Mourinho and Ancelotti who had Ronaldo in their team credit, but you don't give credit to those who had Messi in their team. You need to make your mind up, either Messi is so much better than Ronaldo that whoever manages a team with Messi in it has a clear advantage, or if they're close, then you can't give one manager credit and not the other.

But of course, your opinion will always change to suit the narrative you're trying to further.

I'd be annoyed if he left us for Madrid, it isn't a step up plus it's a complete circus club. Guardiola could be a big pull for City plus I think City are the only club who could offer us the money required to get him.

Barca I don't think will move for him due to costs.
While Real are a circus, fact of the matter is the perception amongst most players is that playing for Real and/or Barca is usually considered the ultimate goal.

Barca not so much, just the past 10 years. It will fade, while Real will not.

Ya I'm talking about now obviously. Although I don't really believe it will fade; this era of dominance they're having and all the publicity they've created for themselves looks like the type that will last.

First of all I was just messing with you.

I do believe Pep is a decent coach. But I don't agree that he has revolutionized football or is any better than Ancelotti or Mourinho.

Barcelona will always be a very big club, but Real Madrid have decades of being the best under their belt. Barcelona is more like Milan or Inter really.

To me you have Real in Spain, Juve in Italy, Bayern in Germany, Ajax in Holland and arguably Manchester United in England.

That's to you, and you're definitely right when you talk about history, but when it comes to prestige*, Juve, United and co just aren't as prestigious as Barcelona nowadays. Think of it like this; it's believable when Barcelona come sniffing around clubs like Juve and United's best stars, you even fear you might lose your stars to those teams, but it's inconceivable that the opposite happens. It just seems that players these days think of Real and Barca as the ultimate teams to play for.

*Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing; I'm talking mostly here about the pull factor these clubs have primarily for players, but also fans.

That's the average City spending per year if I am not mistaken, somewhere between 140m to 200m. I hope the figure doesn't change with Pep.
Most likely it will, think he has to have guarantees to get his top toys or he doesn't join. The guy is not really advantageous or brave enough to go to a club where he didn't have the best resourses in his disposal. He ether goes to an already build team or to one that can buy him anything.

The thing is that too many top players would play for him no matter where he goes.

Mourinho was the only one who had this magnet before now Pep has that too.

That's because footballers (as are most other athletes) in general are dumb uneducated mofos. But that's nothing surprising :D
