Alaba is extremely versatile and talented, he used to play as a CDM/CM, even as a winger and did well, then Heynckes decided to make an LB out of him and he's been even better there. He knows how to dribble, shoot, cross, take penalties (if you are defender and you are the designated PK taker in a team, which has players like Ribery, Robben and Mandzukic, you are really special), he's no traditional LB by no means. You could basically deploy him anywhere on the pitch and he would deliver.

Sure Alaba is/was talented. But Bayern needed a LB and they schooled Alaba just like Conte schooled Asamoah. We could as well scout left wingers below the age of 22 and see who tracks back and has a great workrate. There. One in a million Alaba? Nah - then he's overrated. Alaba is the penalty taker because it solves the problem with the big ego's in Bayern. Alaba is the least probable to do it, yet very good at it so i do see the point in making him the penalty taker..

What research? Morrison has had discipline problems in the past but he's seems to have sorted that out. His football ability however can't be doubted. Conte would keep him in line and enable him to reach his full potential.
