Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis says the club are ready to "escalate" their spending next season.

Asked whether Arsenal could afford to spend a £20m transfer fee on a single player, and offer salaries of £200,000 per week, he said: "Of course we could do that. We could do more than that."

Now i did something that isnt trustworthy, but they tend to enter a serious nerdmode to get somewhat accurate figures.

According the the expenses tab in FM2013, Arsenal has to pay insane ground maintenance costs, and is paying of their debts with a staggering 1.4mil /month.

On top of that, they are turning out quite big dividents

Now this is offcourse not an official document, but it kinda resembles what i've read here and there, that they are mostly a team that is trying to make money for its investors

So you are using FM to learn about Arsenal's spending power? I would be worried if I were you. There's a member on the forum who goes absolutely mental when other posters quote crappy sources. I can't imagine what he's going to say to you. Wait a minute...

I clearly stated that this was nowere near a fact, not even a source, and asked if someone could inform me about it.

Not sure if you even read the post, and the one before that.

I am wondering why arsenal is behaving like this, and i dont know why. I cant immediatly find a record of their shareholdermeeting, whilst juventus post this on their website.

So i checked fm, since they usually are relevant. Like "how is psg avoiding ffp ? Oh, 232mil sponsership." They are not a source, but usually not far off.

Wages, turnovers, club value, all spot on.

That's been apparent for a while now.

However, sooner or later they are going to have to spend to at least maintain the level of prestige they currently have so that they continue to make money.

Keep going the way they are and they will lose support and income somewhere down the line.

People should really stop laughing at what Arsenal fans post on their forum. As if we don't post the most delusional BS on this forum.

According to FM they cleared out 60million of dividents

Is this anywere near accurate, cause for arsenal's turnover, thats massive
Are we talking pounds here? Cause yes, thats massive...
I have their financial statement for 11/12 lying on my computer, and i just checked and saw that they did not pay out dividents in 2011, so i would be surprised if 60 million pounds (or euros) is what they payed out in 2012

I just took a quick look, could go more in detail another day if you want me to (maybe i should get my hands on their newest financial statement then), but the first things i notice are:

- Their profit have not been that high, but high enough. They have a fine turnover, which suggests a healthy bussiness, but the profit is low, mostly because they pay off on their stadium. I expect them to do this for the next years aswell
- They have a massive wagebill, paying out almost 150 million pounds per year in wages (including staff and organisation). I guess with further investments, since they haven't sold any profiles like former years, the wagebill will only rise, or at least be around that level

Which means, that if they do not qualify for the Champions League, they will not have a lot to spend on the transfer market, unless they sell off some of their assets (players)... I think Arsenal has their back against the wall - they really need to strenghen up, because a couple of seasons without Champions League qualifications, and without major player sales, could mean that they would need to reduce the wage bill and cut down the budget, which would result in a situation a lot like Milans, where they would have to hunt for bargains and free players (but aren't they already doing that?)...

Would be fun to compare some of the british and german clubs with our finances, i should look into that when i have the time

Thanks for the analysis.

I was wrong about the dividents. Apparently it was ~60 mil in stadium based costs, wich probably should include the payoff.
Quite massive that one

The way i see it, Arsenal indeed has a huge problem there. They are facing massive payoffs for their stadium.
I cant really see them making enough to justify a huge loan. but they arent making that much liquid money eighter.

If they dont buy a player, their healthy turnover, will drop, as red said
On the other hand, i cant see how they can actually afford a player.

Somehow, i get the idea their executive, said these things to get their season tickets sold ?

Milan pulled off a simular trick when they sold zlatan and tiago silva. Putting both on the marketting for the season tickets, then sell

mr. financial expert doesn't know about this site?

I know its cruel to say, but Marchisio being out for a month I think is a blessing in disguise. Pogba plays the sub role well but the real test comes when he has to play every 3-4 days with the first team and maintain consistency. Marchisio can be world class and very average - I feel he needs to be rotated more in any case. Pirlo needs to be rotated more as well.

The Marchisio injury in a way, makes one realize that we lack depth in wing backs. Pogba is first change, who would be second change? Well, it should be Asamoah but he plays wing back so we are left with Padoin? If we got Zuniga for instance, we could rotate central midfield a little more so that we can maintain high intensity for the entire course of the season.

imagine they sign boetang
Wouldn't at all be surprised if Boateng goes to Arsenal and is replaced by Honda.

It is absolutely not a blessing in disguise.

Having both, means Conte can field marchisio when it matters, and Pogba when he can be rotated.
Right now, if the team is bad, we'll have a weakness in the center.

now this is just serie a, but the inter game ? That could go both ways. We could get shafted tactically, or we could win cause of a pogba moment of genious.

But mostly, what about championsleague ?

In the CL, we need our most solid and tactical formation. And that includes a fit marchisio.

scored a nice goal against lazio. set up by lichtsteiner, who we should also buy
Seriously what do they think of us ? Its ridiculous how the prem delusion gets to people and this is the 4th best team in England we're talking about.

Ofcourse there are a lot of deluded posts on this forum ,on every forum but the prem delusion is on another level i swear. And some clowns think we'll be persuaded to sell Pogba for 20m because we bought players for cheap  Talk about reasoning

Cant blame them though as they dont realize what having a good DS means.Actually, they dont even have one at the moment.

Its been a fun read so far..Would continue reading that thread with amusement.
