The main problem I see with Marchisio is that when he is short of peak fitness he stops running, and that affects him a lot because that facilitates the best work he does (box to box, link work, covering, breaking from midfield).
Right now he's not in good shape. Also I know he had some health problems at the end of the season. I expect you'll see a slow start from him next season, then he'll kick on again in Oct/Nov and the counter 'told you so' stuff.

Sometimes he just seems weak out there, like he's exhausted and loses agility and acceleration. Maybe he needs a couple months off.
