Costa is one of the best strikers around, while we are witnessing Zlatan's decline in a very physical league. Matic provides consistency, fluidity and is reliable defensively, while Pogba is a non-factor when he is not in a well oiled midfield like our old one. Martial vs Pedro, Martial would be the wise choice however Pedro's experience and tactical intelligence has been invaluable in almost every side he's been, that would make it very hard to overlook him for an unexperienced, inconsistent youngster.
Conte has the better trio and that trio isn't on it's own, Matic is partnered by Kante and Luiz coming up to provide more presence, Pedro compliments Hazard who was known to be inconsistent and a flat track bully, Hazard-Costa-Pedro is a fearsome trio backed with competent wingbacks.

In general I agree with the team vs individuals comment. I do think that Chelsea has the better team, but you got to be kidding on your assesment of the mentioned players as individuals.
Costa is the biggest asshole in the football world, but a very good CF non the less. Zlatan has been a top 3 CF in the world for the last 10 years, and last year he had the Best season of hes carriere. Hes having some trouble in the last couple of games, but that doesent mean he is declining and as a CF he still far superior to Costa.
Martial was outstanding last year one of the best players in the PL, while Pedro was shit. At the moment Pedro is in better form than Martial but on a individual level there is just no comparison.
I am a big fan of Matic. I think he is an outstanding CM, but comparing him to Pogba is just stupid. Pogba is the best CM in football when on form and hes trouble at the moment doesent change that. Only a butthurt Juve fan would take Matic over Pogba.
The funny thing is that Matic, Pedro and Costa where all absolutely shit last year, when the Chelsea team did not function under Mourinho. Noe all of a siden they are better individual players than Zlatan, Pogba and Martial because they are in a team thats functioning.

I'd buy him, he's entertaining and he's very marketable.

Someone worthy of BonBon's backheel defending, that would be a sight to watch in a charity game. It would however, get more people aware of BonBon's skills and being one of the best CBs in the world since he would have to step in to Luiz brainfarts every game.
Luiz is a poor defender but Bailey is simply far worse IMO. Honestly, I would accept only a few players from both clubs and Chelsea has the better ones.
And all that hype about Martial... Is it only from his transfer fee, because I have seen so much poor performances from him in MU I really don't think he is as proven as Pedro and I'm quite surprise many people go with the hype.

Marial looks to me more far more versatile and with higher ceiling than Pedro, the latter one is proven though, but I don't mind Martial for reasonable price (<= 23-25 mln) in Juve and don't want to see Pedro anywhere near our team.
Luiz and Bailey are equally bad at the moment. But imo in proper set up Baily has a chance to be a decent defender. Luiz is a ticking bomb, only set up that prevents him from occasional brainfarts is the one where he is benched.

I personally always thought Luiz could suit the central position in the back three. He is an awkward player - not good enough defensively for a back two, but not intelligent enough with the ball to play as a CDM. That central role in a back three is meant for him. What Chelsea don't need is Bonucci - that would be redundant, and it is obvious that Luiz was the alternative to Bonucci. I personally don't think Luiz on Chelsea in a back three will struggle much, as long as the other two central defenders do their job. He will never be as good as Bonucci, but he can fill the need in that formation.
