We agree here. The number 10 is not just another number for us like Arsenal for example. Just look at hiw it was handled by Juve's PR team. It is a big deal of course.

The problem is that any one can make an educated guess that Pogba 99% won't be here next year. How would that look for us, selling two number 10s in the same amount of years?
They don't want the no 10 to stay vacant again it seems. Btw don't we receive more cash (bonus) for shirt sales ?

You can also say that you can make an educated guess that he will be here next year. And we are talking about something 12 months in the future.

Natural leader after we lost key players. He will carry this team next year. Glad he asked for 10, shows that he understands what everyone expects from him.

Amateurs.

We really should be offering to match any other wage offer he receives.
Except for the fact that the offers that allegedly did receive from other clubs, he rejected.

If it were about the money for him, don't you think that he, or especially his agent, would have come out and demanded a raise by now?

*unless he requests a transfer.

but it would be weird for a smart guy like Pogba to take the #10 shirt at Juve while knowing the greatness behind it, to then ask for a transfer a year later, dont you think?
So yours is just an assumption like mine.

It's not just about the money, although it helps. Pogba wants a competitive team who challenges for the CL every year. Look at Vidal.

If it were only a number to a club like Juve and a player like Paul, then he wouldn't have changed it.

$#@!, having Scirea's number for the past 4 seasons would have been pressure enough.
:agree:

#10 at Juve has a great meaning for the fans and the club itself. you dont go to Marotta, say "let me have the 10 shirt", and come back a year later and ask for a transfer. you have to be a fucking retard to do that.

He got one, less than 10 months ago no?
He might have, but again, if another club was offering a ridiculous amount of wages, and if I remember correctly he did reject an offer from somewhere, then who is to say that he wouldn't be within his rights to ask for another one.

Regardless of whether he just got a raise or not. If he is Juve's crown jewel, and he wanted more money, they would be remiss not to at least listen if he came walking into their offices asking for one. But that didn't happen.

It did :D

As he became our highest earner after Tevez last year,

But there are only a small handful of teams that can do that. You know this. Juve right now are one of those "lightning in a bottle clubs"

And Bayern is a perfect example of how Juve wants to run things. I'm glad you brought up Vidal and Bayern. They don't spend a ton of money every year. They have a very good player development system, buy young german players from within the leagues, and make what you would call opportunistic signings. Very rarely do they spend a bucket load of money on one player. Vidal and Javi Martinez the past few seasons I believe are the largest they've spent in the past few years. They are not one of those flashy 100 million euro signing type of clubs. Far from it.

The problem though when comparing Bayern to Juve is that they have a good 5 year head start on us as far as where we want to be.

But still, not anywhere close to where the rumored wages he would have been receiving somewhere else.
